BEAR LAKE, PA – April 28, 2010 – Chub Frank is on the board.

The veteran racer known as 'Chubzilla' broke out a brand-new Rocket Chassis car last Friday night (April 23) at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., and promptly hit paydirt, driving the machine to his first victory of the 2010 season.

Frank, 48, of Bear Lake, Pa., captured a hotly-contested 25-lap UMP-sanctioned Late Model feature, outdueling Jared Miley and Dave Hess Jr. to secure the checkered flag.

"It always feels good to get a win," said Frank. "Hopefully we can use it as springboard to get our season going better."

Taking advantage of an off weekend from World of Outlaws Late Model Series action, Frank made the two-hour tow to Lernerville in order to shake down a 'black' front-end Rocket car that he had assembled late last year but never raced. He started fourth in the headliner, grabbed the lead midway through the event and held off Miley and Hess on a heart-thumping final lap to make a winner of the mount in its debut run.

"The car was O.K.," said Frank, ever the perfectionist. "We didn't tighten it up enough for the feature, but we're happy with it. We gonna take this down south this weekend (to WoO LMS events on Fri., April 30, at North Carolina's Fayetteville Motor Speedway and Sat., May 1, at Georgia's Swainsboro Raceway) and see if we can do something with it."

Friday's program also gave Frank an early-season test session for Lernerville's big $30,000-to-win WoO LMS 'Firecracker 100,' which features three nights of racing from June 24-26. Lernerville's Late Model division is using the UMP DIRTcar Hoosier tire rule this season and that mandate is expected to be in effect for the Firecracker 100, so Frank was able to get some notes about how the rubber works on the four-tenths-mile oval.

"You basically have two compounds to choose from and they're not the right compounds for the racetrack," said Frank. "I'm worried that in a 100-lapper you might not be able to move around on the racetrack with these tires, but I guess we'll see what happens."

Frank enters this weekend's WoO LMS doubleheader ranked ninth in the points standings, 130 points behind co-leaders Josh Richards and Tim McCreadie.
