Matt Hamilton from Aurora Indiana would pick up his first U.S. Race Gear Cincinnati Modified Championship presented by Gabbard's Mt. Orab Ford and B&B Auto Care feature of the season Saturday Night at Florence Speedway. It was his ninth CMC win overall in his Diamond Chassis. Ray Branscum would lead early and the two would swap the lead several times. Everytime it looked like Hamilton, the reigning track champion was finally in control the yellow would fly handing the lead back to Branscum. Finally after a lap 9 restart Hamilton wrestled the lead away from a determined Branscum for good. Branscum would come home second and the hard charger of the night Trent Green would come home third. Green started 23rd after a heat race crash. Daryl Herbert would come home 4th and maintain the CMC point lead in his Alisha and Scott Herbert owned ride. Hamilton would cut into that lead however and is now 2 points back with 72 events left on the schedule. Remember you must register to be eligible for the point fund and registered drivers receive bonus points. For all the info vist www.cincinnatimodifiedchampionship.com

Things really heat up this weekend with Moler hoping to open on Friday night and on Saturday Night Florence will race again as well as Lawrenceburg with their season opener. Who will join Hamilton and Herbert on the 2011 winners tally presented by Diamond Chassis? Chris Kruetzkamp leads the bowmanenterprise.com rookie of the year race.
