MADISON, Ill. - Dr. Jim Walker of Hazelwood (Mo.) Baptist Church took
top honors Tuesday night at Gateway International Raceway's first-ever
Faster Pastor event. Driving the church's 1992 Ford van, he beat Rev.
Miles Bateman in a 2004 Mustang with a time of 18.801 seconds and a speed
of 71.69 mph.

A large contingent of Hazelwood Baptist Church members were onhand to
cheer Walker to victory. He said it was a great event and he looks
forward to coming back next year to defend his title.

"I think I've got some bragging rights now over some of the other
pastors," he said. "It was a great opportunity for fellowship and we had a
good time. Hopefully, we can help make this a bigger event next year
because it's fun for the entire family. Everyone was excited and we feel
it was a positive experience."

Walker wasn't the only representative of Hazelwood Baptist Church to
enter the event. The Rev. Rich Cowan raced the church's bus, losing to
Bateman by the narrowest of margins. Walker topped Greg Doussard of
Midwest Racing Ministries in the semi-final round to reach the finals.

The trophy, provided by Midwest Racing Ministries, will be officially
presented to the congregation of the Hazelwood Baptist Church during
this Sunday's service.
