hey bleedblue

well said 28j

I agree, Hoosier and UMP need to chime in here. It's hard enough to compete with guys that have new tires every weekend (i can swallow that and more power to them that they have the funds or resources) but when their tires are cheated or treated (whatever makes you sleep better at night) it makes it ten times worse. Modifies have the largest car counts anywhere you go and if a car has cheated tires that grab better .... point blank there going to the front quicker. I've had this conversation with a late model guy and he thinks we are the biggest bunch of idiots out there..... 30-40 plus cars every night , getting 2-3 nights out of tires, racing for half the purse, spending just as much money. I love this class and thinks its the best class out there. That being said I think we are being taken advantage of. JMO

Hoosier Tire should step up here. Why are they selling anyone known as a tire cheater any tire at a discount? Hoosier should make him buy tires from his established resellers at the "racer price".

They are cutting the throat of their other resellers.

All who are so concerned, why don't you pool your money together to test the tires you think are illegal?! Problem solved! After this sort of "cheating" has gone by the wayside it will be onto something else just like traction control was. Cheating will ALWAYS be part of any sport. Like it or not.

28JRacer,

Me calling Hoosier to "ask for a job" would be a lot like one of us going home and asking if we could bring home her old best friend that she can't stand anymore. Would I work with Hoosier and help to improve their tires? No doubt!!!! I love working with tires and I'm good at what I do, it would be a dream job to me. But it's just not going to happen.

J.Dearing,

I don't have a Hoosier dealer price!!! I tried to work with Hoosier on that and they wouldn't give ms a dealership even though I would sell more tires than anyone in a 5 hour radius. I pay what everyone else pays. Most of the time now I just get truckloads shipped in by chassis manufacturers that are already paid for and I only get paid for the work I do.

All you guys have to do is ask me the questions and I'll tell you the truth. The only thing I won't do is talk about customers. I'll tell ya what Jimmy if you want to be a reporter so bad I'll even sit down and have an interview, would that make everyone happy?

bleed blue doesn't have have to out his customers, just watch who he goes and helps at the races....guilty by association in my mind....i'm not saying they're all prepping but it sure makes you wonder

hey nick i have a set of firestones with about 60k on them and dont want to buy new one's will your stuff work on them, just thinking that what started out as finger pointing is proly opening alot of eyes of the ones getting beat an proly will just make nick more $

why not re open a non sanc track or add a non sanc mod class to an existing track and have a diff tire rule such as... american racer @ $??, or southwest speed racing tire @ 69.99 both tires are suppost to last 4 or 5 times longer keep purse and rules the same (ex tire) and see what happens might work ,might flop?? prolly never know or even better add an imca class jmo

Why would hoosier wanna run hard tires or do anything different concerning tire life? Figure out how much hoosier and ump would lose if they were to only run harder tires. Big $$$$. Nick, while making a ton of money at the same time, is essentially trying to help out the racer where nobody else involved would consider it. The people who know arent talking, but if they did youd be floored at how many guys actually use his stuff, locally and nationally. Call hoosier and they will tell you, there are 2 guys to take your tires to, he is one of them. I think cutting and profiling the tires is awesome and highly effective, the juice, sounds great but definately outside the rules. None of it makes sense to me. You got a handful of guys, owners should I say, that will spend $50,000 on a turnkey unit to go race for $500 to win on the average, and will purchase anything they believe will give them an advantage. Enjoy it while you can.

Thanks CC-28. I work very hard at what I do and take it very very seriously. I'm as upset as the driver is when they don't run well. Most of you don't realize how many hours I put towards this, I work my butt off and love every minute of it. Life is short(to short for many) and I'm not going to stop doing what I do because for one it provides for me and my family, and second I love racing. This is a lifestyle to me, not a hobby.

To me tire doping is no worse of an infraction than the scam UMP and HOOSIER have with the sh!t tire they mandate be run. Maybe if they put out a tire that would perform and a racer could get some kinda life out of they wouldn't need to dope them. That's was opinion way before this doping jazz came to the forefront.

This issue might as well be dropped, point blank. It is too big now and UMP isn't gonna spend the money it would take to get rid of it. Remember, no testing lab is gonna cut UMP a check to test tires. Drop it and let it be.

Its sad racers want to cheat with doped tires, at any level, to say they won. But the cost of racing is so high in every class, that it pays to win. And they need to win to pay for the 15-30,000 motors. I'll take my low budget racer out and do what I can and have fun. This tire doping is the reason we got out of go-kart racing. Was hoping it wouldn't go to the stockers, but it has.

What is the DCM400?
Concord, NC (January 18, 2010) – DIRTcar Racing today announced the continuance of Hoosier Racing Tire as the approved tire for UMP Modified competition. First introduced 20 years ago, the premium A40, D40 and H40 have become the standards in Modified racing. “Hoosier always has been, and continues to be an integral part of DIRTcar Racing's mission to bring racers a standardized rules package, making it easier for any driver to race anywhere, at any time,” said Sam Driggers, UMP DIRTcar Regional Director.
Also announced is the arrival of the DCM400, a tire engineered to be used as DIRTcar Racing expands into its newest sanctioned regions. The DCM400 tire is designed for series, weekly tracks, and racers who prefer a one-compound spec tire program. It utilizes a chain link tread pattern for durability with a consistent, high-grip compound. The sidewalls and air pressure settings will be similar to the current UMP tires.
The Hoosier DCM 400 is a purpose built tire specifically for tracks in the West, South, and Northeastern United States participating under DIRTcar Racing's sanction.
“With the new DCM400 tire, Hoosier Tire is making another significant investment in DIRTcar Racing as they have the past 20 years,” said Driggers.
“Sam and the entire World Racing Group staff have done a great job of continuing the visions of UMP founder Bob Memmer.” stated Hoosier Product Manager Shanon Rush. “UMP DIRTcar, and organizations like theirs, are the backbone of Hoosier Racing Tire’s success and we are proud to continue our support in 2010 and beyond.”
