Highland Speedway SportMod Announcement

Jimmy you are a moron how many years have they been saying sportsman cars are on there way out????? As for your graph look where they started and yes they went up at end then went right back down wonder why must of been because you didn t bring your car out!!!!!! If you dont like the class then dont run it i am sure they wont miss you!!!!
You sir are the moron!!!!! You are to stupid to understand so I won't even bother trying to explain it to you!!!!

they should allow tire grooving, it lets a person get a few more nights out of a tire. also, there are a few gray areas in the rules that may turn out to be a mess if they arent fixed.

I was told that no lightweight cranks would be allowed thats why the made it 3.48 journals. So i did a quick Google search on that crank this morning and the first to come up was an Scat 4340 forged ultralight 3.48 stroke. Yes it is very pricey but is outhere. Like I told Scott last night I am far from a engine guy and I don't understand alot about them "thats why I have them built". But how can something like this be teched. I hope this class really takes off, my son will be in this class so he will be more focused on seat time than a top of the line engine. Just remember there will be new people in this class that have never ran a mod before so please be patient with them. Best of luck, Brian

I think I just answered my own question about the cranks, I guess they will either look through the inspection hole or pull the pan? See I'm teaching myself already. If there are no lightweight cranks allowed I wish I could read that in the rules.

3.48 is the stock stroke for a 305 or 350 Chevy. What they are basically saying is that you can run a 350 with up to a .060 overbore and a stock stroke, no more and no less. No 4.125 bore 3.250 stroke 350's etc. It makes sense as long as they police the rule because you can bet there will be some "350's" with 3.750 stroke ah-la 383cid!

You hope there will be a cushion! I doubt it......
I like graphs that one is pretty sweet if anyone needs any 2 link mounts for your rear ends i still have some good ones I was one of the last people to give up on the 2 link there should be some good races on the cushion at highland with these 2 link cars good luck guys and dont ask for more over the years in rule changes or you will be right back where we are all at now spending to much money to have fun

i just think had they taken a 3 link modified and moved the motor up to where it is in a sportsman car, you could have had a class with 15 or so cars in it already, added 10-12 more, and had 25 plus cars in the division.

It was originally posted that wednesday night was the night they were going to run this new class. Thats why im asking....is it still a wednesday night class.

Will be a great class for racing as long as "creative engineering" IS NOT allowed by tech officials....reminds me of the original intent of the IMCA modified. Keep tech strict and it will be fun, lower cost racing again!

No its Not going to be its going to be sat nights so now we got just what we don't need fast lates =good
slow lates =****
fast mods = good
slow mods = ****
hell lets add a slow old hornet class or what ever you want to call them this year . maybe the fast class would be 2.0 and above and the slow class would be 1.9 and below that ought to move the night on faster .

2 link, shmee link,i went out n got a leaf spring rayburn for 850 bux,,so any body want my 3 link grt???

How can these rules apply simultaneously?
1. .. No convertibles ...
2. Roof optional.
47. There must be an 18 inch number on each door and the roof.

Can anyone answer what night they will run this class please??Heard Wednesday nights and im hoping they changed their minds.

Looking at this discussion wouldn't it have made more sense if the track simply tightened up the engine rules on the existing Sportsman class? Simply making them the same as the Allied cars would have helped to contain costs IF they were willing to do a proper tech inspection.
