Farmington, MO (July 19) -- A long night of racing at St Francois county raceway found six different drivers in the winners circle. Heat was the order of the day and the racing was just as hot. Keeping moisture in the track was a chore.

This Saturday evening was not like any other as SFCR had a race program on Thursday evening. NASCAR Night was held with Kenny Wallace, Steven Wallace and David Stremme. The race on Thursday would draw moisture from the track that had to be replaced by Saturday evening. The track crew did a great job of preparing the track. During intermission on Saturday, the crew worked the track, added some water to help get the moisture back up. After all there would be six feature events ran on this night. Featured Sponsor of the week Barrett-Jenson Chevrolet was in attendance for this event and not disappointed.

Tommy Worley, Jr, Farmington, MO claimed his fourth feature event of the season in the Sprint Car Division.

Tom Dickerman started on the front row with Worley and would lead the opening lap.

Lap 2 saw a lead change with Jimmy Hurley taking the point with Worley right there.on his bumper. Hurley would lead the event until the 21st lap. Worley made the slide move in turns three and four to take the point and the win.

One caution flag for contact between Bryan Matthews and Casey Barnhouse would fly on Lap 2. Later in the event, Lap 9, a red flag came out as Jason Hunt flipped his mount. Hunt climbed from his car and surveyed the damage and retired his mount.

Top five are Worley, Hurley, Tim Montgomery, Joey Montgomery and Tom Dickerman.

With 26 Modifieds in the pit area. David Shepard, DeSoto, Mo came up big in the battle with Brent Thompson. These two would go door to door on several occasions. Shepard sent his rocket ship to the front with Thompson, Kent Nations and Kasey Nation in tow. The Nations-Nations battle allowed the front runners to put some distance on the field. Those two eventually got together ending their run for the front.

Shepard survived 3 caution periods for the win. Jonathan Self had his car spinout from under him. On the restart Tommy Worley, Sr. spun his out. The final caution saw Billy Smith twist his driveshaft in half forcing him out of action.

Shepard came under the flag first, Thompson finished second, Matt Eaton brings it in at Number 3, Mike Francis takes fourth and Jeremy Greenwalt rounds out the top 5.

The Pure Street Division found a familiar face in the winners circle. John Bohn, Farmington, MO takes the checkers for the sixth time this season. By track rules, after three wins in the division, the car must be torn down.

The results are official. The teardown has been completed. The car is legal.

This feature was the first on the surface after the “new surface” was applied at intermission. There was trouble starting the event. The applied water made it slick. Several laps were made before the start to work it in.

Once the event took green, it ran the full distance.

Bohn, Kasey Nations, Mike Savage, Dave Wofford and Shane Blair are the top 5.

This is the first of their two feature this evening. Last Saturday’s feature was finished at the end of the regular program.

Shane Blair started the make-up on the point followed Bohn, Brian Blair, and Dave Wofford. Cautions in this portion came out for Wofford and Josh Skaggs.

Brian Blair drove a good handling race car. The car seemed to get better on the longer runs. His late race move propelled him by Shane Blair, who is a new dad, for the win.

Make up top 5 at Brian Blair, Shane Blair, John Bohn, Dom Wadlow and Dave Wofford.

Oh, look another Class. Multi action found a familiar face in the Circle. Ryan Kempin, Catawissa, MO dominated the event after taking the lead on lap 2. “Super Dave” Chilton took the lead, although short, and settled for second. Brina Keen finished third, followed by Tom Sydnor and first time heat winner, Kyle Amerson.

Also on the card this week were the Mini-Stocks. A nice field of fourteen were on hand for the event. Megan Bell, Farmington, MO, whipped the guys for the win that was slowed by several caution periods.

Bell took the lead from Tony Moore and never looked back. Late race charge by Kyle Jarrett made it interesting. However, Jarrett’s night would finish as his car fire. Not once, but twice. He parked the car on the second instance for safety reasons.

Remaining members of the top 5 are Bill Nickelson, Greg Price, Ron Moser, and Todd Brinley.

Complete results will be posted on the track website. This can be found at www.sfcr-online.com.
