I-55 Pepsi Nationals Updates

I don't think the move was clean, and Babb did move O'neil out of the way, but it was probably the most exciting finish in the nationals I've ever seen.

Did anyone see when Leka plowed Weber in turn one on one of the last restarts??

Yea if i remember right i think webers car stalled and leka couldn't get stopped fast enough and nudged hin a bit in the rear

Weber's car didn't stall. He turned it down low after the cone, and Leka tried to get lower and plowed him in the left rear tire.

You know what I saw? I saw one of the d@mn best late model features at I-55 in quite some time. Sure, Babb hit O'Neil, but how many times has it been O'Neil moving someone else out of the way?

And who says there wasn't a cushion in the feature....sure there was. It's concrete, but it's there. Dixon put it to good use, and pulled of a good 5th place with it.

modified feature?

Did anyone see the start / duration of the incident with Mark Voigt on the frontstretch. From where I was standing I could not see anything except the smoke when it was over. I do know that Mark was pissed when he came out of the car. I did not think that Whaley drove like that???

Also, the incident between Leka and Weber was aided from behind Leka, as I saw his bumper after the show...it was painted with lighter blue paint than his chassis....any guesses???

Re: modified feature?

I didn't see the incident between Whaley and Voight, but Rich said that Mark pushed up the track, just as all drivers do, except he got a little too high and got Rich's left front hit the wall and came back and got him again and then the flip happened.

I did hear that Martintoni got a piece of Leka before Leka nailed Weber, but wasn't sure as I didn't see the contact with martintoni and Leka.

INCIDENT!

Dear, Crash. I was there and I have no idea who told you that story but, heres what happened from my view(inside pits turn 4 ).Rich was running high groove Mark went under him in turn 3. Mark made pass did not touch Rich at all.Rich got a run off top and never lifted from the 1st time he hit Mark in left rear(which drove him into wall just past flagstand) till he flipped him into inside catch fence at entrance to turn 1.I have been to Pevely 3 times this year and 2 of the 3 times Rich has been sent to the rear or black flagged for rough driving.Racing produces wrecks, some can not be helped some can.In my opinion this one was one that should not have happened.Cars can be fixed but someone could have been seriously hurt because of what i would call a brain fart.So Rich if you read this look at the tape before you reply,I think you will see what i mean.Just Randy.

WELL, AS WE ALL KNOW, 10 DIFFERENT PEOPLE WILL SEE IT 10 DIFFERENT WAYS. I SEEN THE WHOLE DEAL. I WAS IN THE PITS BETWEEN THE JUDGES STAND AND TURN 1. SO HERES MY TAKE ON THE VOIGT/WHALEY CRASH................

THE #30 CAR CAME OUTTA 4 ON THE LOWSIDE. WASHED UP LIKE MOST DO AND WERE DOING SATURDAY NIGHT. THE #59 HAD A RUN ON THE HIGHSIDE, AND THEY MET RIGHT REAR TO LEFT FRONT, WHICH TURNED THE #30 INTO THE WALL LIKE ALWAYS DURING THESE TYPES OF INCIDENTS. THE #59 THEN WENT LOW AND THE #30 CAME ACROSS THE TRACK,ASSUMING BECAUSE HIS RIGHT FRONT WAS BROKE. THEY GOT TOGETHER AGAIN AND SLID SIDEWAYS WITH THE #30 EVENTUALLY DIGGIN' IN AND FLIPPIN'.

I DIDN'T REALLY SEE IT AS ANYONES FAULT. JUST AN UNFORTUNATE RACING DEAL, WHILE RACING HARD.

f.a.tweenie

I think you should know what your talking about. The post after yours was correct. Just a racing incident that happens. I was between judges stand and turn 1 on top of a trailer and #30 went up into Whaley and Whaley kept his line until #30 hit him as #30 went up. It happens, get over it! I don't know how you can see all the way to turn 1 on the ground.

Whaley is one of the best drivers at Pevely. Accidents happen, look at you!

About the mod feature. I did not think Voight raced that way, he probably doesn't on purpose. He probably did not know that Rich Whaley was already there when he moved up that far. Rich Whaley is one of the best modified drivers at I-55. Mark Voight has an extensive reseme, one that most of us would envy. They are both good race drivers that drive most every lap with good ethics, some times wrecks happen. The Leka/Weber incident, Weber up to that point still had a chance to win, Tom Ratajczyk had the best chance to win. From what I hear crashing people is what Leka does best. Tom fought hard for that win, and it is unfortunate tha Leka did something dirty to make people question what the outcome would have been if Scott Weber would have finished. I can't recall ever having a conversation with Tom, nor do I recall ever seeing him drive rough.

The latemodel feature, what Babb done on the last lap was probably moraly wrong, but you can bet your last cold beer that every single one of us(if put in the same position, understanding the importance of winning in this sport, and the pay drop from 1 to 2) would have done the same or worse.

I thought the reason that weber went in was because his front end broke. It looked like that was the problem when he was sitting by the backstretch wall. And Leuka didn't even hit him that hard. It didn't look intentional to me. If it was where one of you said that he plowed into him his whole back end of the car would of been tore up. And it wasn't the left quarter panel was bent a little bit. The latemodel race was awesome and if i was in babb's point of view i probably would of done the samething. Especially that that lap car woud not get out of their way. It was a great finish to a great race. And if you were in that situation at that time to win that much money you probably would of done the samething. :D
