I-55 Raceway UMP Summer Nationals is CANCELLED!

I've never seen a rain date for a major UMP event at Pevely, and I expect that trend to continue.

The only available date would be Monday night and I don't think they would run a 10 grand to win show on a work night.

unless it miraculously gets rescheduled for Monday the 6th, I don't think they'll be running this one. that's the only date available yet between now and the end of the tour...

they could reschedule it for the end of the tour. it doesnt have to be the day after the Ohio date give one day to travel.

I am sorry if i upset anyone with this post but calling the rain out this early is just plain laziness or fear. I live here in Pevely and have attended races here and other track for over 40 years in the St Louis area. They always have the same reasons, they cant get the infeld ready or the track is lost. Flood out i can understand but they have 3 tractors and a roadgrader down there, more than enough equitment todo the job, there radar is clear and they have plenty of time todo the job. They didnt need a infield last week,, but if theydid the grader could just push the mud to the side for what area they need to stage the cars and open the areas to have room to pull off. Dont get me wrong Ray i like you and know you do a good job at the track but there are things that are proof that the track has been slipping backwords these last few years, it seems to me that I-55 is loosong it fan base also I rember many a year when the stands were near full ever sat., the track record was broke every year sometimes 2 or 3 times, i havent seen a add or heard a anousment this year got i may have missed it, and for the record i drive by the track 3 or 4 times a week and nevr see a advertisement as to the shows coming up. We do care about are home track as i am sure the traveling fans do to, this is one of the best short tracks in the area for at least a couple hunderd miles around and have been proud to have family from out of town that love to atend the race when they are here. One last note were is the flag it hasnt been seen on the pole all year and that to me is just disrespent to the fans and ower comunty to not fly a flag in a public venue. I will continue to go to the races and love the races there but i am sad to see thing go down hill the way they have it is a great place for fans and driver alike but it wouldnt take that much effort on days like today to do your job so we fans and drivers could have the big show we were told about. Sorrry if i hurt anyones feelings i dont post on here much but love to come and read the post and news. TY Jimmy for your sevice here.

Sounds like to me with all your great ideas and insight, you need to run down to the bank, and buy yourself a race track.

Dlee, No harm done. Your B/S is very understanding coming from ????? Whatever I can not paint this a clean picture, your comments are just down right crazy and proof you are having a bad day. I for one can tell you Ray of all track owners dose everything he can to get a big show in. Now your post might hold water on a weekly show after a rain but as far as a big show? You have no clue on what it takes to get that track ready to race on without it rutting up or knocking you out with mud cloggs thrown from the cars. He has a ton of resecpt for the drivers not to give them a shi*y track and tear there cars up. I have been down there during the week at times (from week to week) with Ray and his crew watching them work the track. You have no clue how many miles around the track it takes to work it in. Also before anyone even gets out of bed on a Saturday morning you have no clue the work that is already done, Then while you are sleeping or going to church on Sunday he is right back on those tractors working the track for the next weekend. I have camped out there on some nights and heard the tractors running well it to the early morning after the races on Sat. night. So please as you are driving by the track look a little harder and you just might see him out there. No need to be sorry if you think you upset someone, you havent, you just got way under my skin on something you know nothing about. I think he made the right call for everyone. Now the drivers and fans can go do something else on this 4th of July insted of sitting at the track untill 5am. Oh by the way I don't think it would be cool to piss off the nabors with us running untill 3am. My guess is by time the track was ready to race and stoping to fix it 3 or 4 times over the night it would be 3am before it was all said and done.
Very good post on your part but do like Intake said and go buy yourself a track or get to the track and pick up a rake and get it ready to race.
Ray is one hell of a guy and I know for a fact he would have done everything he could before calling it off.

Better go check that radar buddy. You could have gotten started but by 7pm tonight you would be getting wet at i-55, things are popping up all over Missouri.

Oh and the flag pole was addressed in another post, it is broken and need a man basket to fix. Or if u like u could just shimmy up there to put a new pulley on it.

Just went though some rain in Fenton. He can get the radar when he buys his track.:D
Oh one last thing Dlee The last race Ray cancled I talked to him the next day just to say hi and I must tell you he was almost in tears asking me if I thought he made the right call. Because if you remimber right it quit raining after he made the call. The man worrys way to much on his calls to get the disrecpt people like you give him. Sorry if I upset you on this but on this matter you are dead wrong on your comments.

Kent lazy is your spelling..
How true, must have been one of those classes I skiped:D But I see you get my point:eek: Sorry just upsets me to see someone trash Ray over something Ray works so hard on. Sorry about the spelling never going to make it in this world I guess:p:D oh well

My question is, did UMP call it or did Ray call it?

Because Ray would do everything he can to get a race in. My opinion though, we probably could have got the race in, the radar is now spotty and mainly North.

My opinion only..

I'm crabby too because I'm not going to the races I have had planned to go to every year. I prayed all week for it not to rain, he screwed me again..:p

But what can you do, right???

Are some of you people out of your ever loving minds!!!????

I'm sure that Ray spent who knows how much to promote this thing, including TV adds just to call it off on a whim to just whizz you off! Thats not all!! How about all the time and money involved in getting the place ready to the point of the rainout! Ray is probably having a nervous break down over all this and you jack azzes want to bash him!

Here in DeSoto, which was south of the heavier rain that went over I55 we have 2" of rain as of right now with more probably coming!

I can not believe the caliber of idiots that post this ridiculous crap on here!

Just a couple of weeks back i told Arlin & Earnie at Fr. town, how i was glad i was not a track owner or promoter. Very few times are you right on, but a lot of people expect right on every week. Promoters & track preps keep up the good work! Chuck

Real fans like me wouldn't have wanted a great show ruined because some one wanted to see a race. Great post Intake!
