Kemp to manage I-70 Speedway

Sat. October 25, 2003

(Odessa, MO) -- I-70 Speedway has a new General Manager. Larry Kemp was named to the post by track owner Brad McDonald and will oversee operations of the half-mile high-banked paved facility.

Kemp comes to I-70 with a wealth of experience in track promotions and for several years was Race Director of the American Speed Association. Most recently, he was promotor of 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, and before his stint with the ASA, ran Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

"I-70 Speedway is one of the top facilities in the country and I'm looking forward to this opportunity," said Kemp. "It says a great deal of Brad and Lonna (McDonald) that they're willing to involve me in the future of a track that was a favorite of mine while I was at ASA."

Kemp says he sees no immediate changes in rules or classes. "We're in the process now of moving to the area, then we'll spend time talking to people and gaining their imput."
