IMCA Super Nationals

I went to Boone, Iowa yesterday for the first day of the 36th IMCA Super Nationals.

The Boone Speedway track prep crew can do some amazing things. When I got there at around 4:30 pm there were multiple vehicles stuck in the roadways to the parking lot areas (I parked along the highway), but they had the track ready to go by 5:30 pm (3 hours after the most recent deluge had stopped). They have had a lot of rain in the last week, with more expected all week.

They proceeded to run off 34 heat races (14 hobby stock heats (125 cars) and 20 sport mod heats (147 cars)) in 2 hours and 45 minutes. They also ran multiple B and C features, plus 3 A-Features (2 hobbies, 1 sport mod) and had the entire program completed in less than 5 hours . I told some friends of mine, that it would have took Tri-City Speedway a month to run off that many races (LOL !!! -- only half joking).

Also, while the track was heavy all night long, it never rutted out.

If you have never been to the event, I would encourage you to put it on your bucket list.
