Impressive Nickel Race--July 17

The entire Richards family consider Ed & Danny Dixon good friends of ours. Apparently you have never had the chance to enjoy one of the Dixons ice cold beers and talk about the old days.
I don't understand how somebody can come on here and bash drivers. If it wasn't for the likes of Dixon, Melvin, English, Burwell, Korte what kind of racing would you enjoy this weekend. It takes all kinds of drivers to make the show. The good, the bad, the lapped traffic.
These gentleman like to compete. They race you as hard the first lap as they do the last lap and emotions run high and mistakes are made but they are only human. Until you strap your *** in to one of those cars and drive the entire race season (60+ nights) and not make one mistake maybe some of us should hold off judgement on others.

Thanks guys!

I think everything is ready for tonight---last donations were dropped off at 11:15pm last night! I am truely amazed at the items that were donated this year---you are not going to believe your eyes when you see them!

Just a few reminders: Don't forget to get your arm-band for the Nickel Race when you enter the Front Gates or the Pits. Ages are 3-12. We will stop giving out arm-bands at the end of the 3rd race of the night. For the Race---3-7yrs will race on the Front Straight and 8-12 on the Back Straight. Parents are allowed on the track (no beverages are allowed on the track) with the little ones---BUT---PLEASE---DO NOT pick up the Nickels, that is the childs job! After the Races, please make sure you visit the Driver or Drivers and thank them for their donations! And most important---HAVE FUN! :)

Once again---a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who donated items and helped me at the house---You guys and gals are the best and we could not do this without you!

GO DODGE

Laura and Donny, I must say Saturday night was a great for the kids and families. When the Talker Guy announced the kids could make their way to the gates, I do believe half the stands were emptied. I know a lot of the kids did not find a nickel, but I did see others sharing with their friends, brothers and sisters. I went down in the pits afterwards and all the drivers seemed busy signing flags, photos, drivers posters, pictures, etc. The kids enjoyed it and so did the drivers. THANKS AGAIN.

It was neat to see kids sharing their prize winning nickels and plain nickels with others! I witnessed a few good stories that I would like to share----some parents should be really proud! I will not mention the names of the kids, but I know who most of you are!

1. A little boy on the front straight---somehow managed to pick up 2 orange nickels. Now the orange and pink nickels were for the major prizes given on the front straight.....bikes, Grave Digger, go-carts, motorcycles. Before the big prizes are giving out, the little boy gave 1 of his orange nickels to, I think, his cousin! At this time, neither one of them knew what the number would represent---they both came away winners! Way to go kids!

2. Same story about the back straight----a kid somehow managed to pickup 2 orange nickels and gave 1 of them away before he even knew what he had!
That is awesome!

3. First thing to remeber about this story is that the kids did not know what each colored nickel represented! This kid had managed to pick up 13 green nickels but he asked another kid how many nickels he had---the second kid said "I only got one". The first kid said " Here, you can have my nickels" and started to walk away. The second kid said "Wow---you got alot of green nickels, since you gave me all of yours, I want to trade and give you my one nickel" Both sets of parents should be very proud of these kids for sharing their nickels! I would like to Thank both kids for being generous and wanting to share. Where am I going with this?????? The second kid gave away his NICKEL!

We always seem to hear about the bad things that kids do today, so I just wanted to share some good news---we don't hear enough about the good the kids do! My hats are off to these kids!

Pretty impressive stories if you ask me!
