(Warrensburg, MO) With the 2009 race season in the proverbial review mirror, CMS promoters, Earl and Susan Walls, remain focused on readying their track for 2010. Next season marks the seventeenth year the couple will promote races at the track they own and promote just north of Warrensburg, Missouri on Highway 13. Shortly after the final checkered flag fell in September, twenty new loads of clay were added to the track's surface in preparation for the coming season. More recently, additional precautionary measures took place at the track in order to protect the highly praised new racing surface during the off-season. The Walls also have plans to improve the front side concession stand during the off-season prior to opening weekend next April.

ULMA late model drivers will notice some big changes upon returning to the track next year. By far, the biggest change is the new payout scale for weekly competition. Saturday's main-event winner will go home with $600 for the victory, up from $500 last year. On down the line, the payout is more compact and features increased start money. The full payout for 2010 ULMA weekly competition follows: 1st $600, 2nd $500, 3rd $400, 4th $350, 5th $300, 6th $250, 7th $225, 8th $200, 9th $175, 10th $150, 11th $125, 12th $120, 13th $115, 14th $110, 15th $105, 16th $100, 17th $95, 18th $90, 19th $85, 20th $80. Twenty cars will start the feature each week, a change from last year's twenty-four cars, which should allow better competition on the track. Another important change for the late models will be the utilization of passing points to determine the main event line-ups. Passing points will be utilized for the entire season. When late models returned to CMS in May of 2009, Mr. Walls asked drivers to help him rebuild late model racing at the track and he would see to it they were treated right. Last year's average car count of twenty was a record at the track in its 26-year history and the record 30 cars that showed up on the final night of the 2009 season (another record), are both testimonies to the promoters and drivers coming through for the benefit of racing. With the awaiting improvements, the future of late model racing looks bright for CMS and the United Late Model Association.

In recent weeks, some speculation amongst the racing community concerning which classes may or may not run at CMS in 2010 has been a popular off-season conversation piece. Recently, Mr. Walls commented, "We will run our schedule as planned and previously announced with our normal four classes," which includes the 'Mighty' Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks, and B-Modifieds. Modifieds will not be sanctioned by any governing body. In the coming weeks, rules for each competing division will be released via the track's official web site and through the CMS email news group. The 2010 ULMA rules are posted at www.ulmaracing.com.

On Saturday, December 5th, top tier drivers from 2009 will receive their accolades at the annual Central Auto Racing Boosters Club (C.A.R.B.) banquet in North Kansas City. Drivers who earned trophies for top ten points finishes in each division in 2009 who are unable to attend the banquet may pick up their trophies at the annual CMS Registration Meeting in January. The registration meeting will take place on the grounds of Grover Park in Warrensburg, Missouri, at the ABC Building from 9 AM to Noon on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
