Is it true crate late class is in trouble?

We are former St Louisans who raced crates when they first came out and had a ball until we moved away. Talking to some old friends back home I hear that class is so cheated up that they have lost alot of cars. Is that true? If so what a shame. Why didnt they keep people honest and check and tech them? I was told some crate cars had 40 to 50 grand or more poured into them last year. Not sure if thats true, but if it is......No wonder you dont have crates any more.

Tech was vertually a never was. Voigt tried the series and didn't get much support locally. The problem also is south crates are weekly shows and supers are specials. It's tough to have both same night. But support around here just never was completely here. South also has a ton of big crate shows.

but yet UMP will allow the c525 and most other sanctions won't ; lucas is afraid mighty mouse might have too much power lmao

I think some of the areas lack of support has to do with other options too. Up north like Peoria has limited options. West Has Lucas ULMA. They actually penalize a 604. There are a few of us that do run the 525ct in Ump supers but it didn't hurt the Crate count because our option had been ULMA. We ran a 604 for a couple years and didn't feel too good about some of the competition especially when we traveled to tri-city, yeah lack of tech had a lot to do about it. I know I had a good piece that dynoed at 430hp and some cars obviously had more than mine. Pretty much made it clear something had been modified. If it seemed not so obvious I may have stayed a crate but that was 2010, anyone who kept a crate after that year only wished for a miracle and a equal tech.
For just a few $$ more buy a 525ct and get supers pay. I may not win one without a lot of luck, but I'm competitive and have had as good of finish as 3rd at I-55 and MMP and even won a few heats. So any of you crate guys come talk to me and I can tell you what you need to run a 525ct and have an engine that will run a good 80 nights without even changing anything but oil and maybe a set of spark plugs. For around $10k.

We raced crates for a couple of years and really loved the class. The idea of it is great and they are a fun car to race. Unfortunately the cost to be competitive got out of hand (just like every class) and we won't be back dirt racing until something is done to make it somewhat affordable to be competitive.

we still run crates and are optimistic at best. We made some really good runs last year and kept those front few in our sites but really no way to catch them. I really at the least wanted them to tech the fuel. But we go 1 more year with a different brand chassis and see. At the small tracks i really think we matched well but the 5/8 miles those horses really show. If not the engine its the sheer cost of the shocks and dollars to try different things or test. Its not hard to see those with less than legal cars either. They either win or blow chunks . If you replace tha 604 twice a year and are not complaining about who did your engine guess what? Lets just say something has turned a little harder or hotter than it was designed too!!

never a fan of those 2 motors in a late model in a sportsman or street stock yes late model no and allowing drivers than ran supers to join crates was just plain stupid

I ran steal body bilsteins and nothing I mean nothing light weight and used tires. You could tell who had more power though!!

Gosh Hound--looks like youre agreeing with me that UMP should make some rule changes to make the racing less expensive. Better be careful, if Sams reads this you might not get any tonight!
why of course but crate class should never evolved
