For Immediate Release:
Lebanon, MO; Stormy weather was the headline across the Ozarks Saturday. But, the only storms that hit the Lebanon I-44 Speedway were the ones the track. Week number four of the Monster Energy Chase for the Cup provided thunderous finishes, including three last lap passes for feature wins.

Darren Fullerton jumped out the early lead of the 20- lap modified feature on Saturday night and looked to be headed for his first career victory at I-44 Speedway until a late race caution changed everything. Fullerton, Robert Baltzell and Brian Brown had an intense battle for the lead, until the storm that had been brewing finally struck on the next to last lap in turns one and two. Baltzell dove to the bottom of Fullerton in turn one, with Fullerton holding his ground on the bottom third of the track. The two cars made contact sending both cars sideways and up the track. Fullerton was struck by another car, spinning his car out and knocking him out of contention for the win, as the caution flew. Baltzell brought the field back to the green for the green-white-checker finish, with Brown in hot pursuit. Brown would go to the bottom on the restart with Baltzell holding the top as the two battled wheel to wheel over the final two circuits. Brown got the grip he needed off the bottom of turn four on the last lap, beating Baltzell to the line for his first victory of the season. Ken Dickinson came home third, Phil Harris fourth and Jim Reeves rounded out the top five of the breathtaking feature.

Tony Jackson Jr. was lightening fast in his Late Model, going to Monster Energy Victory Lane for the first time this season in dominant fashion. Jackson swept the Late Model heat race, feature and Carget Motors Dash for Cash, for his first Late Model win of the season. Scott Atkinson got a great start on the field, leading lap number one, as a hard charging Jackson came from his sixth starting spot all the way up to second by the end of lap one. Jackson set his sights on Atkinson, making up about a car length per lap on Atkinson’s lead until finally making his move just before the lap 10. Jackson dove low on Atkinson in turn one while Atkinson held his ground in the middle grove. Atkinson slipped up after slight contact with Jackson, which was all Jackson needed as he quickly took advantage and took the lead coming off of turn two. Atkinson, who swept the opening weekend, stayed with Jackson until the halfway point of the race until his handling started going away. Jackson pulled away after the halfway point and had a straight away lead over second place Atkinson on the white flag lap. Atkinson’s night ended coming out of turn two when his steering box locked up sending him spinning into the back stretch wall. Jackson took the checkers while Mike Slone came home second, Ken Dickinson held off Kyle Steffens, as the top two in points came home third and fourth with Atkinson rounding out the top five.

Devin Archer took the early lead in the Coca Cola Street Stock feature and the young rookie looked to be headed to his first victory of the season, and his first in a stock car, that is until Dale Roper, Jr. came knocking on the door. Roper stalked the rookie for the final six laps of the race, and made several attempts to pass the rookie on the bottom of the track but was unable to make the car stick. Roper fell back after nearly loosing the car coming to take the white flag in turn 4 and would have to make his move coming to the checkered flag. Archer held his line into turns three and four, while Roper dove to the bottom, the two touched in the middle of the corner with both cars getting sideways. Roper maintained control of the car on the bottom while Archer chased the car up the track, as the two drag raced out of four to the checkered flag. Roper was able to edge out the rookie Archer, staying undefeated this season in the Street Stocks. Mike Coryell came home third; Chuck Becker came across the line fourth, but was later disqualified after refusing to go through post race technical inspection, giving fourth to Rick Sharp, while Brad Graves rounded out the top five.
Josh Lewis looked to be headed for Monster Energy Victory Lane in his first ever asphalt race in the Pure Street feature. Lewis took the lead late in the 12-lap feature, and brought the field back to green after a late race caution set up a green-white-checker finish. Lewis had motor problems strike just as the field went back to green, as Mike Scott and Steve Shaw split Lewis going in to turn one. Scott held on to the bottom while Shaw held his ground on the top. Scott would prevail, taking the “Bumble Bee” to victory lane for his first ever feature win at the Lebanon I-44 Speedway in dramatic fashion in the Pure Street feature. Payton Lucas made a late charge through the field trying to win his second feature in a row but came up a little short in third, with Grant Sharp coming home fourth and Missy Shaw rounding out the top five. Gary Davenport won his third Charger feature of the season over Nick Moore and Adam Rodden.
