Super Late Models Over $8,000 Possible to Win April 13th & 14th!

Columbus, MS-The 15th Annual James King Memorial weekend will provide doubleheader action once again following last years successful format that will see North Alabama Speedway and Columbus Speedway team together for a great weekend of racing excitement. The combined event will see over $8,000 possible to win for the Super Late Models over the weekend and many of the regions top competitors should be in action both nights.

The weekend will get kicked off with a special Thursday night practice at Columbus Speedway at 7pm on April 12th.

Then action will get underway in earnest as the $3,000 to win and $250 to start “2nd Annual Shoals Shootout” 40-lap Super Late Model event for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) will take place at North Alabama Speedway on Friday night April 13th at 8pm.

A plethora of cross sectional talent should be in the pits to test their skills at Jeff Greer’s revitalized 1/4 –mile exceptionally racy speedplant. It should be another war to watch for the fan’s enjoyment at The South’s Action Track.

Many top drivers representing the MSCCS should be on hand for the points event including Chris Wall, David Breazeale, David Ashley, Scott Slay, Marlon Wild, Gene Coumes, Dwight Falcon, Chad Thrash, Jay Dickens’ RotY contender Jack Daughtry plus many more interlopers looking to take the Bama bucks back home to the south and west.

As always the tough NAS local contingent of drivers such as Mark Mears, Anthony Burroughs, Jerry Owens, Jerry Jackson, Ronald Dunn, Chris Ragan, Daniel Miller, Byron Michael, Donovan Henry, and Nick Howell are expected to compete as well; as are frequent visitors such as Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Tony Morris, Dane Dacus plus many more.

All local divisions will be in action as part of the 2nd Annual Shoals Shootout including Late Model Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, Modified Streets, Mini Stocks, and Outlaw Streets.

Pit Gates will open at 4pm with grandstands opening at 5pm. Driver’s meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm with action scheduled for 8:00pm.

The 15th running of the James King Memorial will be the final event of the weekend at Columbus Speedway on Saturday night April 14th. The James King Memorial has long been one of the marquee events in Mississippi and this year should be no different as the Tennessee based Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) will make its first ever appearance in Mississippi.

The race will also be taped for a broadcast later this Spring on the CSS Network which goes into over 5 million households in the southeast. The famed race will once again be 64 laps and pay $5,000 to win and $300 to start as many of the top regional racers will be on hand taking on the stars of the SRRS in what should be a nice intersectional mix of talent at The Baddest Bullring in the South.

Columbus area fans will have the unique opportunity to see some new and/or infrequent visiting talented drivers at “The Bullring” such as SRRS invaders from North Alabama and Middle Tennessee that are expected including Tony Morris, Tyler Landers, Mike and Michael Luna, Byron Michael, Mark Mears, Brandon King, Steve Ross, Joe Denby, Eric Hickerson, Tony Albright, Ice Bowl winner Billy Mayo and others.

Other Columbus Speedway regulars expected include reigning James King Memorial winner Chris Wall, plus Mike Boland, Bub McCool, Anthony Rushing, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Shawn Edwards, Jason Smith, LC Sanderford, Anthony Burroughs, Eddie and Rick Rickman, David Breazeale, Jamie Elam, the Cliburns, Dean Carpenter, Stacy Caldwell, Bubba Franks, Tombo Callahan, Kurt Radojcsics, Jeff White, Justin McKree, Roger Shirley, Scott Dedwylder plus many more as the region’s best drivers as they will clash in the 64-lap finale as part of the James King Memorial weekend.
