Jason Feger rolled through the gates tonight and emerged a happy man with $6,000.00 more in his pockets than when he arrived. Feger, one of the many young guns in the Midwest put his name in the record logs of the Mighty Macon Speedway by capturing the 60th Anniversary Extravaganza held to celebrate the long heritage of the Midwestern Illinois speedplant.

The feature got underway with 5 former HERALD-REVIEW 100 winners in the lineup for the 60 lap A-Main event presented by J.D. Byrider. Joe Ross, Jr. would take a command in the opening laps from his outside front row starting berth and appeared very strong while being challenged by Dick Taylor and Kevin Weaver.

On lap 12. disaster struck as Don Cisco III was trying to get off the track and was trapped in the outside groove. After Justin Allgaier made contact with Cisco, once the caution was displayed Ross exited the race track and was pitside with a broken oil line. This turned the show over on the restart to Weaver and Taylor as the duo battled with Taylor taking to the top of the track and Weaver making his preferred line the hub.

Feger would take the lead on lap 32 and never look back as he masterfully worked the middle groove of the track to his advantage and pulled away from his challengers.

When the checkers fell over the field it was Feger in the LaBamba, Griffin Design, ABS #25 taking the honors ahead of Taylor, Allgaier, Weaver, Shirley, Hammer, Sheppard, Jr., Zidar, Erb, Gansmann, Standridge, Damery and Bauman.

Kevin Weaver began the night by posting fast time honros with a lap of 11.122.

The heat races were won by Ed Bauman over Kyle Logue, Dick Taylor, Joe Ross, Jr., Don Hammer, Steve Sheppard, Jr., Feger and Weaver, Roger Brickler over Corey Daugherty, Brian Shirley, Mike Mudd, Dennis Erb, Kerby Damery, Mark Gansmann, Jayme Zidar and Don Cisco III, Steve Ewing over Randy Meyers, Brent Helmkamp, Rick Standridge, Butch Smith and John Graham.

Dash action seen Dick Taylor take the honors in commanding fashion, reminiscent of his days of old when he was one of the dominant drivers at the track. Following taylor and establishing the first three rows of the feature were Ross, Jr., Sheppard, Jr., Weaver, Feger and Justin Allgaier.

Semi feature action which would transfer the final four starters in the 60 lap A-Main event was taken by Cisco, III over Brickler. Daugherty and Rick Standridge.

Jeff Leka claimed the modified feature for his sixth win this season at the track and fifth consecutive.

The street stock action was topped by Jeremy Rhodes with a closing lap pass for the win over Larry Russell.

Congratulations to Richie, Terri, Joey, Scotty and the entire Macon Speedway
gang on the 60th season of the Mighty Macon Speedway, the little track that could!
