Jimmy Cummins' LEGIT Speedway, West Plains, MO Sept. 2016

Debbie Cummins

Bomber Momma #19
He's off to another racing adventure! This time he talked Robbie Eilers, Ryan Eilers, and Doug Tye into the trip to West Plains, MO to LEGIT Speedway. Jimmy and Bruce left Friday morning, after Jimmy stopped long enough in Waterloo to drop Boon off for my doggy-sitting expertise and pick up his Dad. The trip takes about 4 hours from Waterloo down I-44 to MO-63 the other side of Rolla. Robbie, Ryan, and Doug left on Thursday so they could attend practice Thursday night.

The first text I received said, "We are here. Kinda empty." with a pic of the flat, red clay track. First stop the Tech barn.

I asked what pill number he drew and he sent me this explanation: "they re-draw so it doesn't matter until they draw the new zero". WHAT? Doug Tye drew 168, Jimmy 196, Ryan Eilers 159, and Robbie Eilers 115. Then the "new zero" was 64. OK, I guess that works in a different universe.

They had 34 B-Mods. Jimmy was in the 1st Heat, 4th row. He finished 7th. Top 4 go to the A-Main, 5 - 8 go to the B-Main.

They all made the A-Main Feature Friday night! Jimmy texted that Ryan and Robbie got 6th and 7th. Doug got 13th, and Jimmy got 15th. Jimmy said his car was good, he passed 5 or 6 cars then no yellows and it was just like hot laps. Robbie's 3E had to go to the rear in the 1st lap with a flat.

I'm still trying to copy and paste the A-Main Feature results.....

I finally figured it out! Jimmy texted me last night that Gilmore got DQ'd and Doug then made it in to the 12th spot, so Jimmy finishing 14th was the only one that didn't make it to the big show so far.

Today he texted me that Ryan and Robbie helped him rescale the car and changed a bit so hopefully he gains something for the races tonight. Thanks Robbie and Ryan!!!!

Stay tuned for more thrilling results as I wait for news from West Plains.

Bruce called this afternoon as he was getting his pit pass. I told him to thank Gene Morton for posting the line-ups for me.

I'm trying to post the pic that Jimmy sent me of the track. It's really flat and wide. Bruce says it's not like the tracks we race around here and requires a different driving technique. Hopefully Jimmy can change his methods and conquer this monster. 14222110_1002596129838723_4257068412789049087_n.jpg 14202689_1002619696503033_2961235411563320796_n.jpg These pics of the track and tech barn are from Doug Tye.

I can't believe they haven't called me, texted me, or anything yet? What are they doing? How long does it take to run these heat races? Geez!

I also learned that Robbie Eilers had 2 flat tires yesterday. He got one in the A-Main on the first lap, had to go to the rear, and made it all the way back up to 6th. Wow!

Janet Eilers just posted on facebook that Ryan called his Dad Ron and told him that Jimmy made the Feature race and they are all getting ready to run the 75 laps. Good Luck boys!!!!

Jimmy just texted me....said he went from 13th to 6th in the B-Main feature to make the A-Main feature tonight.

My daughter says I need to take a break from the computer and chill.

There is a live feed (or was live until the phone went dead) posted by Shae Schlaefer, friends with Janet Eilers, in several segments. It quits just before the end of the race.

I hope that works to get to it. I added another one and I think I got them in the right order.

Anyways, Jimmy texted me that he was up to 8th but ended up 11th. Ryan Eilers got 8th. Robbie Eilers was top 5 but got tangled with Jackson and got black-flagged. Doug Tye broke a tie rod in a wreck and it finally broke on him. Shawn Strong won. Bruce said about 15-16 cars finished.

For now that's all I know. I'm a nervous mess. I posted stuff but forgot to hit "post".

Bruce called while I was typing the above post. They are teching the top 10 so Jimmy didn't go, yet. I just told him he probably should. I think they all did a fantastic job and represented our region very well!!! All of them made the BIG SHOW!!! I'm so proud of our guys!!!

Now on to Wisconsin next week!

Maybe the pictures make it appear that way, but that track is not at all flat.

When they held the show-me there it was one of the best races you would see. The track gets super slick, but provides great two and three wide racing. You would routinely see drivers come from the back at the show-me. Just proves you don't need a heavy, hammer down track to have great racing.
