Morgantown, KY- October 1- Jimmy Westerfield of Hartford, KY started in the 20th position via a track provisional and ended up first in the 7th Annual Battle at the Bottom at Soggy Bottom Speedway on Saturday night. The win for Westerfield was his first ever with the "BoB Mod Squad" and his fifth straight feature win at Soggy Bottom for back to back track champion at the 3/8 mile Butler County oval.

The start saw Tim Dierlam loop his mount in turn four, negating the initial start. The restart would see Brandon Wilson, Joey Kramer, and Randle Sweeney work three wide for the lead, with Sweeney finally taking the top spot lap 2 before Ronnie Falloway spun his mount in turn two, collecting a half dozen more cars in the process. The restart would have Sweeney out in front, while 2005 NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series champion Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN battling with Illinois native Ed Shamhart for second. Disaster would strike Shamhart on lap 3 when he spun his entry in turn two, collecting Paul Miles and Justin Rattliff in the process. This double file restart would still have Sweeney at the point, with Kramer second, while Wilson and Russell Childress would battle for the third spot, with Childress taking third on lap 4. Kramer would pressure Sweeney for the lead at this point in the race and on lap 6, Kramer would go to the lead off of turn two. Joe David Turner was starting to work his way to the front, as he took fourth from Wilson on lap 7. Another caution waved on lap 8 when Alan Gates made contact with the frontchute guardrail and collected Adam Cole in the process. This final restart would see Childress go to second, while Turner and Jimmy Westerfield went at it for fifth on lap 9, with Westerfield making his way into the top five for the first time on lap 10. He would then battle with Wilson and Turner from laps 11 to 15, with Turner ending up in fifth by lap 15, and Turner would go to fourth in lap 20, as the field received the halfway signal for the 40 lap event. Meanwhile, Childress had went to second on Sweeney and would close up on Kramer's back bumper on lap 24 and the front duo began to close in on traffic. Lap 25 would see Kramer and Childress battle door to door for the lead, while Sweeney and Turner dueled it out for the third position. Turner would take third from Sweeney on lap 27, as the lead pair got into heavy traffic on lap 29. With 10 circuits left, Kramer and Childress would go side by side for the lead, with Childress grabbing the top spot on lap 31. Turner would go to second one trip later and would begin to pressure Childress for the lead, while Sweeney would take third from Kramer with five laps remaining. As the lead pair of Childress and Turner worked into turn one on lap 37, the pair made contact, with Childress spinning, while Turner was charged with the caution for making contact with Childress. The final double-file restart would have Childress back at the point, while Westerfield would get a run from his third position and take the lead on lap 38 from Childress and take the $2,500 payday in his Westerfield Body and Towing/Deals on Wheels/Texas Roadhouse/Hurst Racing Carbs/Bill Ballard Landscaping/EZ Graphics/Bobby Easley Painting #m1 sponsored W.T. Harris Race Cars mount. Childress would end up second, with Kramer third, Justin Rattliff fourth, and Brandon Wilson fifth. The remainder of the top ten were 21st starting Randy Westerfield, Tim Dierlam, who recovered from a lap one spinout that put him to the rear of the field, 19th starting Robbie Sanders, Turner, and Ronnie Falloway.

Thirty-three entries would see the Racing Optics fast time award go to Paul Miles with 16.263 second lap. The four VP Race Fuels Makin' Power heat wins went to Kramer, Ed Shamhart, Wilson, and Sweeney. The PBM Performance Products/Dale Meers Race Engines B-Mains went to Justin Rattliff and Brandon Tomes.
