Joey Kramer Rocket to American Modified Series Mod Squad Bash Win at Bluegrass Speedway

Bardstown, KY-June 4, 2011- The American Modified Series would return to action after a pair of rainouts and would visit the David and Anita Ferrell promoted Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the 11th Annual Mod Squad Bash of Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would live up to his nickname as the “Rocketman” as he would put on a clinic and grab the $1,500 payday in the A-Main event.

Kramer would start fifth, but take the lead in the 30 lap, caution-free event on lap 4 with a slidejob pass of early race leader Shelby Miles in turn four and would proceed to lap up to the 11th place finisher in what was a dominating performance and makes Kramer the only three-time winner of this event at Bluegrass Speedway. Kramer’s victory would come aboard the Claudette Kramer owned Hill’s Historic Painting/Lucas Oil Products/Ground Works Landscaping/ State Farm Insurance/Larry’s Truck and Trailer Service/Bright Beginnings Child Care sponsored #77 MasterSbilt Race Car, powered by a Bullock Race Engine. Kramer’s mount receives product support from FK Rod Ends/JE Pistons/Eibach Springs/AFCO Race Products/Fast Shafts/Genesis Racing Shocks.

Michael England of Glasgow, KY would start seventh and finish in the runner-up position, while John Demoss of Bloomington, IN would finish in the third spot. Bryan Barber of Greensburg, KY would garner fourth place honors, with Benji Lee of Loretto, KY completing the top five.

The remainder of the top ten would be J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY, Josh Lucas of Bardstown, KY, Trent Young of Hopkinsville, KY, Rob Penny of Owensboro, KY, and Keith Smith of Clay City, KY. The caution-free event took just a second under ten minutes to complete.

In preliminary action, Benji Lee was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 21 entries at 17.283 seconds. Shelby Miles would win Hypercoil heat one, while J.T. Ayers won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. John Demoss would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Bryan Barber would score Comp Cams heat four.

The next scheduled event for the American Modified Series is set for Saturday June 18 at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY. The event will be the 2nd Annual Open Wheel Modified Bash and will pay $1,500 to win.
