Texarkana, Texas (06/08/10) – Jon Mitchell jumped behind the wheel of his #5 Team 5 Enterprise/GRT By Catman/KHP Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified over the weekend and came away with a top three finish in the Doug Murphrey Memorial.
Jon entered the Doug Murphrey Memorial over the weekend at Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana. A talent-laden field of ninety-eight Open Wheel Modifieds from across the country entered the $5,000 to win event. After winning his qualifying race, Jon started seventh in the feature. Mitchell would enjoy a solid run in the feature event as he charged through the pack to as high as the second position before slipping to a 3rd place finish behind winner, Chris Henigan, and Hunter Rasdon. This weekend, Jon will resume his pursuit of the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model Championship with a pair of events in Missouri and Arkansas. On Friday, June 11th Mitchell will travel to Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri for the Boomland 30, which will be highlighted by a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 30 lap feature. Saturday, June 12th will find Mitchell at Northeast Arkansas Speedway in Harrisburg, Arkansas for a $2,000 to win/$400 to start, 40 lap event.
