Justin is a native of Riverton Ill, and he grew up just over 100 miles northeast of Gateway International Raceway. He began his career racing quarter midgets in home state at the age of five.

This is his third pole in 71 NASCAR Nationwide Series races drivng the Verizon Penske No. 12 Dodge Charger. Justin placed 25th place at Gateway in July this year where he was involved in a late race incident.

"There's always a compromise at Gateway, and I've always been a believer in making the car better at one end or the other," said Alligaier.

"Last time we raced at Gateway, it seemed the cars that were able to get off Turn 2 better were at an avantage."

Earlier this year he won at Nashville Superspeedway.

The race begins today at 2:40 pm.
