Inside Line Promotions - EAGLE, Neb. (April 29, 2019) - Kaleb Johnson withstood an early evening problem and later advanced to another top-10 finish with the Sprint Series of Nebraska last Thursday night at Eagle Raceway.

Johnson started third in his heat race before quickly noticing a major problem with his car.

"I was going into turn three on the first lap when I found out I had no brakes," he said. "I'm not sure if it was a mud clod or what, but something snapped our brake line in two just after the start. So after that I just tried to stay on the bottom and maneuver the best I could without brakes. We managed to hang onto fourth place and qualify for the feature so it worked out okay."

Johnson started 16th in the 20-car A Main.

"We were able to pass a few cars early and then everybody got spaced out a bit," he said. "I eventually got up to eighth before I clipped an infield tire, pulled a wheelie and got passed by a couple of cars. I was able to get one of those spots back coming out of the final turn and we finished ninth.

"We tried a few different things with the car to see how it would react and I thought it went pretty well."

After a scheduled three consecutive nights of racing was cut to just one when the two-night show at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., was canceled due to weather, Johnson is excited to make a major announcement regarding this week's racing plans.

"I'm happy to announce that I'm going to be driving a second car for BDS Motorsports this weekend at Princeton and Cedar Lake with the Midwest Power Series," he said. "I'm super excited and appreciative to Bryan Sundby for giving me this opportunity. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from Bryan and his team.

"I haven't raced at Princeton before, but I've watched races there. I raced a 360 at Cedar Lake last year for the first time and finished second so I'm really looking forward to going back. Cedar Lake is a phenomenal facility and it always seems to produce good racing."
