ANKENY, Iowa (April 1) – Another season of guaranteed growth in the class is paired with Karl Chevrolet’s sixth year in the title sponsorship role for IMCA’s Northern SportMod division.
The Ankeny, Iowa, auto dealership will provide a portion of the $9,500 point fund to be paid to top 15 drivers in fi¬nal national point standings for the class.
Forty-eight tracks in seven states have now returned contracts to sanction Northern SportMods this season. IMCA crowned champions at 40 tracks in 2010.
"The Northern SportMod class continues to grow at a very consistent rate and this year the point fund will triple to coincide with that growth,” said IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder. “Karl Chevrolet has been involved with this class virtually since its inception and their support again this year is very appreciated."
Karl Chevrolet will also give a crate motor to a Northern SportMod driver competing at the 2011 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
Drivers are required to display two Karl Chev¬rolet decals on their race cars during the regular point season and at Su¬per Nationals; they must compete in at least half the weekly races at an IMCA sanctioned track to be eligi¬ble for the crate motor drawing at Boone.
