Springfield,Mo.-Despite early wekday rains,action went on Sat Night at the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway with 2 and 3 wide racing all evening long in the 5 classes with over 75 race teams in the pits.
The Budweiser A-Mods were back in action this week as Jon Yeoman and Jackie Dalton brought the field to the Green flag.Side by side as Yeoman took the early lead,but Dalton the defending track champion jumped the cushion in turn 4 bringing out a yellow and going to the rear of the field.
On the restart,Yeoman and opening night winner Erik Maggard went wheel to wheel with Maggard claiming the opening lap as Mitch Keeter quietly made a bold move to the low side and grabbed lap number 2 with Maggard staying close.The yellow waved on lap for Kyle Slagle bunching up the field.On the restart,Keeter last seasons runner-up in the standings jumped to a big lead as Dalton was coming through the pack.On lap 7 Dalton took the second spot away from Maggard and tried to catch the flying Keeter but Keeter was to strong tonight as he grabbed his first win of the season with Dalton,Maggard,Bobby Pearish and Marvin Forrest in the top 5.
The popualr SportMods went through 3 tough qualifying heats and a last chance race to set the field for their feature as point leader Sean Williams and Roy Maynard brought field down on the start.With 3 wide action on the opening lap,Andrew Smith in row 3 got sideways spinning and collected the cars of Shawn Strong,Mike Willoughby,Andy Beauchamp ending thier nights.On the restart Williams took the lead with Maynars,Brandon Maggard,Bobby Maggard Jr and Eric Tinderholt in tow.In turn 4 Williams jumped the cushion bringing out the yellow.On the restart with Maynard leading Brandon Maggard went to high groove as they came out of turn 4.Maggard grazed the wall sending him into a hard barrell roll and Maynard also caught damamge ending both their nights.This put Bobby Maggard Jr in the top spot and the former FactoryStock front runner wasted no time in pulling away from the field in grabbing his first win of the season with Wayne Graybeal charging hard to finish in the runner-up spot with JC Morton,Wes Long and B feature transfer driver Mike Hailman in the top 5.

The Legend feature was all early season hard luck driver David Bauer as he took the lead on lap 1 with Jay Reynolds staying close behind.Current point leader Justin Comer and Park Jones were swapping spots back and forth with Comer trying several late attempts at Bauer but Bauer held them off to take the victory with Comer a very close second followed by a fast moving Dave comer,Rob Watson and Jones at the finish.
The MidWest Modz saw 14 year old and current point leader JC Newell lead all 12 laps of the feature withstanding several attempts from Roy Maynard to take the win but following inspection was Disqualified for tech reasons giving the victory to Maynard with Jeremy Manes,Kaleb Copher,Kelly Gough and David Lynch following.
No Racing on Sat May 29,but Action will return on Say Night June 5th as the popular USMTS modifieds visit the SpringfieldRaceway for their only scheduled visit of 2010.Top Modified drivers from 7-10 different states will be on hand along with action in the SportMods,Legends and StreetStocks with Racing to start at 7PM Sharp.
