Kennedale Speedway Park hosts Sept. 3-4 Southern SportMod Nationals

KENNEDALE, Texas (Aug. 31) – Kennedale Speedway Park rolls out the red carpet this weekend, for the sixth annual IMCA Southern SportMod Nationals.
Heat races, “B” features and a qualifying feature for the SportMods are on the Friday, Sept. 3 card, along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Heats, “B” features, a Race of Champions and the $2,000 to win, minimum $200 to start main event are on tap Saturday, Sept. 4.Sanctioned Modifieds also run that evening.
IMCA 609 mufflers are required for all divisions at Kennedale. SportMod drivers who compete both days but don’t make the main event get $150.
Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Friday. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. On Sat¬urday, gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing is set for 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids 6-11 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25. Entry fee for the Southern SportMods is $50.
A Thursday, Sept. 2 practice session runs from 7-10 p.m. Pit admission is $10.

Eighty-Five Speedway at Ennis hosts the fifth and final regional event of the season for the Southern Sport¬Mod division on Sunday, Sept. 5. That feature will pay $750 to win and a minimum of $75 to start. IMCA Modifieds run for a top prize of $500 and all applicable points.
Gates to the pit area open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow and fireworks at intermission.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults and $5 for kids 6-12. Five and under get in free. Pit passes are $30.
