FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Geary, Oklahoma – June 2, 2014 - Wingless sprint car racing returns to Lawton Speedway this coming Saturday night, June 7, as the newly formed Wingless Oklahoma Warriors (WOW) will be making their first of three appearances atop the quarter mile, red clay oval.

The WOW was formed this off season when track owner/promoter Mark Brill of Brill Motor Speedway ceased track operations in the middle of the 2013 race season. Back in 2011 he talked to several sprint car drivers who were concerned with the skyrocketing costs of the class and an e sprint division was born. Drivers most sprint fans in the state of Oklahoma may recognize are former State Fair Speedway (OKC) racers Gil White, Mike Gossman, Mike Ramsey, James Fabian, Bud Lowe and Daryl McGuire. Touring regulars also include Dwayne Forsgren, Ricky Crawford, Chance Nestell and Erich Peterson.
As mentioned, the tracks regular weekly divisions of champ sprints, limited modifieds and modifieds will also be competing.
In the champ sprint division, Cody Cothran of Wichita Falls, Texas enters the month of June as the current point leader with a 90 point lead over Cache driver Joe Bob Lee. Rounding out the top five in the point standings are Shawn Bloomquist, Chad Koch and T.J. Honkomp. Drivers having reached victory lane include Cothran, Robert Sellers, Kyle Ezell and Gary Owens.
Entering this past weekend’s event, fifty-six different drivers had competed in at least one of the six events that have been held with Larry Fletcher having had a 220 point lead over Cole Dennis.
