Leahy Jr. triples at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO-- (May 21, 2004) John Leahy Jr. has only been driving in the dwarf car class at Doe Run Raceway for two years, but Friday night he proved he is a force to be reckoned with. Leahy not only grabbed his first feature win of the season, he decided to go all the way and make it a triple crown night by winning all three events he was entered in.

Sam Layton came home second in the A-Main, Steve Copeland third, Cliff Yates fourth and Billy Joe Beard finished an impressive fifth in his first night out as a dwarf car driver. Leahy was followed in the first heat by Vince Conway and Layton. Mike Zaricor carried the checkers in the second heat with Bobby Black second and Copeland third. Conway got the runner up spot behind Leahy in the dash with Zaricor third.

Marty Boyer had a fantastic night as well, winning both of his events in the Mini Stock class. In the A-Main, Eric Bellew finished second to Boyer, Brian McGee third, Chuck White fourth and Ron Moser fifth. Keith Buckley finished second to Boyer in the first heat with White third. Carl Bellew won the second heat followed by Moser and Eric Bellew.

In the Multi class A-Main, Matt Dotson jumped out in front at the green flag and looked to be on his way to victory lane until getting caught up in lap traffic midway through the race. Casey Barnhouse saw the opening and went for it, passing Dotson for the lead and never looking back until he saw the checkered flag fly. Tyler Robbins was a close second behind Barnhouse, Tony Roney third, Jimmy Bridgeman fourth and Joey Boyd fifth. Jeremy Boyer won the first heat, Barnhouse second and Eric Giessing third. Matt Dotson won the second heat, Roney second and Tommy Boyd third. Dustin Barks won the third heat followed by Bridgeman and Tyler. Dotson also carried the checkered flag after winning the dash, Roney second and Barnhouse third.

In the Super Stock Kart class, Michael Harp was the winner of the A-Main with Kodi Giessing second, Megan Bell third, Kyle Jarrett fourth, Brad Paquet fifth and Wayne Arnold sixth. Giessing won the heat race followed by Jarrett and Arnold.

Braydon Wright cruised his way to the winner's circle two times in the Stock Kart class. In the A-Main, Scott Hutchins finished second, Jesse Wright third, Brad Paquet fourth and Landon Barks fifth. Hutchins was also second to Braydon Wright in the heat race with Brad Paquet third.
