lets live in the times and allow quickchange's in sportsman

Come on allied let us run them do the math race ready 9in is 900 dollars plus a 250$ gear plus another 250$ gear for Belleville and another gear for highland or where ever else you run that’s 1650$ for that money I could have a steel tube quick-change and gears to run anywhere in the country!!!!!!!!there’s no argument you can make that says it’s too costly cause it’s not...... price it out give a 25lb weight break if needed. you allow aftermarket heads that add horsepower for 100lb weight break why not allow a guy that wants to run his rear-end that actually robs 10 to 15 horsepower. it doesn’t make sense all your doing is saving the backs of the racers and making it more enjoyable for a racer to run 2 nights a week!!also it doesn’t have be mandatory for everyone to run this rear-end just give a guy an option. it’s all for the simplicity 3-4 min to change gears verses 20-25 min for one guy to change gears

thank you Daryn Klein

There is absolutely no reason to put a quickchange in these cars. We aren't mods or late models. Heck while we are at it why don't we slap some birdcages on them and make them a 4 bar car. Everyone has a 9" now or a floater so why sell the 9" to put in a qc? You will get maybe 500 for a complete used floater. So now you still have to spend another 1500 to get a qc. Absolutely no need at all. And I gaurentee that it will not even be thought about so really this was a waste of time. Sorry to sound like a *** but I am just speaking the truth. A lot of racers don't have a unlimited budget like some. Plus you say to run all over the country. If you have a AARA car you aren't worth anything once you get out of this area. If you want to run all over the place and run quickchanges then move up a division or two. JMO so sorry if ya disagree.

I agree with Tommy. No reason to go to a quick change, its a slippery slope if they would. Whats next? berts/brinns, aluminum heads, birdcages....etc. I hear they are going to triple disc clutches for next season, just another added cost this offseason. If it goes much further my car will be for sale.

Keep this class simple. Why change from the rules they have now?obviously the rules are working since Pevely has 30 cars on a regular night and more on the bigger money events.

Didnt ask for four bar cars nor bircages I simply asked for a SIMPLER way to change gears and if you must no I want to run Belleville and pevely not all over the country that was just a statement So you could grasp that with a qc you can get any gear ratio cheaper then with a 9in i don't believe I asked for four bars or birdcages but thank you for your reply also I said it wasn't manditory it's like all the other allied rules with cubic inch and after market or stock heads it's optional!!!!! I'm slimply asking for a aftermarket rearend if you will.

I dont agree 100 percent on the quick change Idea. But it would sure be nice, I know personally that we have about 7 sets of gears for are sportsman car, We do travel alot and love running different tracks.

But before we go pushing the idea of a quick change rearend or berts.

We needed ump or tracks to get together and set some rules on paper,Not 10 different tracks having their own rules. So everybody go somewhere and run. Not just stick to your home track.

that is just my opionion

i like the bert and brinn idea saginaws are getting harder and harder to find and when the break they tear up the clutch flywheel pressureplate, driveshaft and alot of time the rear gear.saginaws have been threw who knows what abuse before we put them threw what we do.figure out what a good sag setup cost.
clutch presure plate and flywheel 10,000 rpm--$969
hydraulic throwout bearing --200-250
bellhousing--250
transmission--200-350
total 1500 plus

top of the line new tripple disk "which yes alot of people will buy" --$1230
still have the transmission and to bearing
total 1800 plus

bert or brinn 700 plus used
1400-1600 new
hmmmmmm sounds diffrent when you price them

While we're at it, lets allow floaters in the Pure stocks. I'm playing hell trying to find a stock axle for my stock 9" housing. I could go get a couple Moser's but for two of those I'm getting into brand new "cheaper" floater range. Above what I could get a used floater for. That's not including any spares axles the stock 9". Floaters are for convienence and safety, there isn't going to be a speed advantage. So guys who chose not to have one will not be at a disavantage.

I'm not for increasing the cost to go racing just for s h i t s and grins. But, when I have to spend the money I want the best I can get for what I spend. JMO

Yes the only issue there I they HAVE to go to qc then cause Berts and brinns are one to one and they don't make a high enough gear ration that way in a ring and pinion but I do like that option if you allow those high dollar clutches why not that tip of tranny expensive investment but there bullet proof once you have one

20 minutes really isn't that much time to change a gear, the benefit of changing gears quicker gives a person an advantage at the track because now they could change gears very easily througout the night. This would force people to buy QC's to keep up.

Its not fair to compare used prices of brinns, clutches, etc. Compare everything at new prices other than stock used parts and the numbers will tell a different story.

Also, I had some tranny problems at the beginning of the season. I didn't have any problems locating saginaws. As a matter of fact I had people with saginaws for sale keeping my PM box full.

I feel like this class should stay as "stock" as possible and refuse to change to "racing" parts unless it is absolutely necesarry due to parts being scarce or for safety.

JMO, good discussion.

No quick changes. You just have to draw the line somewhere. I do have definate opinions on what would be good for the sportsman class to lower costs and improve on what we have but I do believe there are lines we just don't need to cross. Only thing I do disagree with Dave is... these are sportsman not street stock, sometimes racing parts are cheaper than stock parts.

i ran a brinn under the table for years,(6 yrs ,same tranny)it helps when the track is wet but can bring the rpms up to quick inb the dry,,i finnally got legit, power glide with a 10inch converter,,it has about 1/2 the rotating weight hanging from the back of the crank..i agree that quick changes are not warrented at this time ,,most sportsman tracks, save the local tracks, allow racing trannys (naw, not tranvestites get your mindes out-a da gutter)with internal clutches

I think comparing things at new prices is better though I do agree with that. I know a lot of those used berts and such. Unless a guy is getting out of racing or something of that nature, a lot of those are being pawned off because they've been rebuilt and patched so many times they need to upgrade. If a guy has a car with a new bert in it and is selling a used bert, there usually a reason....JMO

We are not up north and if you want qc, brinn/bert and wide five then you need to be in a latemodel. These are SPORTSMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont the sportsman cars up north have quick changes, berts, and wide 5 wheels ?

So do the late models. Might as well put crate engines in the sportsmans and call them crate late models. Racing is expensive enough! Lets think of ways to make it cheaper, not more expensive.

Extreme sports man you said that some things need to remain stock and others a cheeper after market in this case you are right I bet in your two cars and all those gears layin around that you have more money in those rearend and gears then you would in qc I believe people are scared of the cause " latemodels run this rearend " personally this will be the downfall to this class to the crate class not saying within the next couple years I realize that pevely gets 40 cars some nights. But pevely is also one of the top tracks in the nation for are class like Jimmy d said. And I would really like to no how man people commenting on this post have worked with qc's cause if they have they would be screaming yes. My dad won't even change the 9 in gear for me cause his back. These rearends are out dated! And Dave I totally agree with you that the rearend could be used as a setup tool but I ask you to come to the outer pits at pevely and actually see how many guys are changing gears it's like a base line setup you find your sweet spot and you stay with it. Just like the sportsman guys have. years ago the gear to run at pevely was 6.50 now there up around 6.66 -6.83 so it's like anything else there was the same arguments when the mods switched and now go down and ask them guys they LOVE them!!! Just my opinion again.

Thanks
