local tracks picking up or dropping classes?

i hear that highland is dropping crate late models, but i am not an official. they went from 18-20 regular late models in 2009 to 10 to 14 regular LM and 10 to 13 crates. i heard people complain the sportsman didnt have many cars early in the year but they got up to 17 every night at the end of the year!

it has NOTHING to do with me so dont complain to me, just what i heard. if what i heard is true i think it is the right decision

Way too early to start asking these kind of questions as the tracks need to look at how they and it takes time to do that. Racing just ended for the most part. Give them a chance to evaluate what worked and what did not work. Bottom line is what made them money and what did not.

no that is the problem all these tracks want to wait till feb. to tell u what classes they will be running then start racing on april 1 we as racers need time to get motors built or freshened and with there being a handfull of engine builders you can see the problem not to mention if you are going to change classes these cars dont get put together over night and we all dont have 3000 sq ft shops to work in comfort all year

Good point.

Very good point.

For example...pevely and the pure stocks. I've heard of about 3 guys that do not race right now that are waiting to see if pevely has them before they go build a car.

I really don't care what they decide.....just do it early enough so the racers can prepare.

AARA (I-55 & Belle-Clair) have their rules meeting usually in mid-to-late-November, so I'm sure any discussion of new classes will be worked out by then for those tracks.

this will get me in trouble but,i ran into sue zobrist at wallmart and acording to her,,the SPORTSMAN are out,,i told her that even with a not so stellar car count the class was made up of over 90% local racers and if you check out the after the races head count that party with the sportrsman that adds up to a lot of fans in the stands,,she said it was purly economics,,she also said the following classes would be at highland,,supers, mods,ss,hornets and CRATES,,i asked her if a sponsor were found would they reinstate sportsman,,her response was positive but i would want a gaurentee from them prior to beating the bushes for a sponsor or a team of sponsors,,if you think about it the sportsman are the longest running class at most tracks...

one more thing,,i do have a mod i could run at hi-land,,u mod guys really want me in your class???LOL...pick your poisen

I spoke to a good source of information for I-55, about 3 weeks ago, and was told this would be decided by Nov 1st. I do not know if it is yes or no, was told it was not decided yet. I would personaly like to see it, think it will be a good show and car count if drivers know in enough time to build cars. We will all have to wait and see, but this was the date I was given.

SPORTSMAN CARS have been around for along time, and the car count was getting better at highland at the end of the year because you had guys moving up from street stocks, that class is just as enjoyable to watch run as some of the other class's I hope they dont do away with them I bought one to play with next year, Im not running for a champion ship I traded for one to help the class get another car added to it. These cars are BAD *** and alot cheaper to run than Late Models with the economy the way it is WE NEED TO KEEP THIS CLASS OF CARS.They are awsome cars to watch. ANYONE ELSE AGREE WITH ME ? LETS HERE YOUR COMMENT... KEEP THEM SPORTSMAN CARS RUNNING............................................

I agree. Keep the Sportsman cars and let the Crates run with the Late Models at Highland like they used to do and some still do. That's my opinion.

A b-mod class in this area would be a great move. i personally know of a bunch of sportsman guys that would build one and a few A-mod guys would move down. Really fun class but the motor program to run up front in a A-mod is rediculous. so yes i say bring on a b-mod class somewhere close but i dunno where...lol

If Highland drops the sportsman next year and I55 adds street stock it will kill the sportsman class in this area!!! For economic reasons? BS CRATES S**K JMO
