Do they still send text messages about events at the track to those who have registered to receive them?

Not to be negative but if tracks are gonna cancel races because of cold weather and worrying about people showing up then why schedule races March? Gets hopes up...

according to what I know the track was retaining a lot of water that combined with the weather report is why they pulled the plug --- at least they did it early

That it always rains in March and getting races in are a crap shoot at best.
I sense a little sarcasm here!! Lol. Honestly though...I have never understood why they try to start this early. We all know Marich is a rainy month. I get that we all are ready to see some racing but why not just start a few weeks later and run a little later in the year? And this is not intended to bash any tracks it was nothing more than my opinion.

That's what I was alluding to.

I see why you guys would want races later in the season, but as someone who has seen how and where a track makes/loses money, it's not really feasible. The track has the best chance to make money or at least break even in a weekly basis all the way to July. After that they will lose money every week. Sometimes they will lose 5000 a week on a regular show. Now do you see why they schedule early spring races and not late summer races? I agree that it's much more enjoyably to sit and watch a race in warmer weather but the track wouldn't survive especially knowing it's going to take another loss. I was fortunate enough to to be on the board and I will say this. I got to know some of the greatest race fans on earth. They don't make a dime. They don't get to watch a lot of the races. Some put in a 40 hour week (voluntarily) for a sport only to be criticized on social media when things don't go the way some people want when all they are doing is helping the racer, fan and track. They make countless and I mean countless phone calls trying to get sponsors. I could go on and on but would rather explain in a face to face. So in ending if they cancel in early spring it's for a good reason.

Tracks did well back in the day when they started mid April and quit first of September. JMO but spreading themselves out is just a part of their problems.

And also add that the fact...how many times have we seen a guy come out with a car in this colder weather and blow a motor? Everyone knows that colder weather is hard on these motors! You take a guy such as myself that don't have a spare motor at the moment and he goes out there and blows it up the first night or two because of the colder weather then he's done for the remainder of the year or until he finds a cheap replacement. I guess I'm just looking at it from a driver's perspective.

If an engine is properly warmed up there shouldn't be an issue. Im a body guy and not an engine guy so maybe I'm wrong about that. Seems like when it comes to making decisions at highland or any track the ol saying comes to mind. "Damned if you do , damned if you don't".
I'm 100% sure that the people behind the scenes are doing absolutely all they can to keep everyone happy. Some may disagree with a decision but others may agree with it. Some like chocolate ice cream. some like vanilla. I like butter pecan lol. Cross fingers for good weather this weekend. Have a good week fellas.

Great points made! I do agree with the damned if ya do damned if ya dont comment. But as a former driver i didnt count on racing till late april. Cold weather not only plays havoc on engines but rear ends transmissions ect. Once they are warmed up no big deal. But its that initial cold run that can hurt stuff. I unloaded a rear gear and i beleive it was due to the oil was too thick and she blew. We didnt get to pack the track of hot laps due to rai was everywhere and the show was rushed
