Macon Speedway Opener Features Tony Stewart Car

(Macon, IL) Don’t forget your cameras for Opening Night at Macon Speedway. Highlighting the March 31 lid-lifter at the fast 1/5 mile will be a special appearance of the Home Depot #20 car driven by two-time NASCAR champion (and Macon Speedway co-owner) Tony Stewart. The car will be on display from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Macon Speedway is in the spotlight, receiving special attention from Stewart and co-owners, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader. Partnered with local promoter Bob Sargent, this team is dedicated to providing spectators and competitors the best possible racing experience. An exciting season is in store with a schedule that includes three NASCAR Nights of Stars.

Macon Speedway will feature on a weekly basis five UMP divisions: Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Hornets. New for 2007 will be the addition of the C.A.R.S. Late Models. The 2007 schedule also showcases a variety of traditional fan favorite special events including the Lite Beer Twin-50’s and Firecracker 40’s.

Macon Speedway’s aggressive summer schedule includes a Memorial Day Special featuring the Northern All-Star Late Models plus many NASCAR Stars on May 28, NASCAR Night II on June 14 and the Herald & Review 100 in combination with UMP Summer Nationals on July 5.

Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart will be the Grand Marshall for a third NASCAR Night of Stars at Macon Speedway on July 20. Power-I Midgets will light up the track on this special night. The USAC National Midget Car Series makes a stop at Macon on August 17.

Make plans now to be at Macon Speedway on Saturday, March 31. Gates open at 5:00 PM and racing starts promptly at 7:00 PM. Adult admission is $10. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
