(Macon, IL) Mother Nature smiled on Macon Speedway all day and well into the evening, but shortly after the National Anthem rain drops began to fall and soon the full fledged thunderstorms that made their way from the west attacked the mighty 1/5 mile.

Large crowds were on hand to see the new, improved, Macon Speedway and take a close look at the #20 Home Depot car of Tony Stewart. Pit areas were overflowing with solid car counts in all five divisions. Fans were in for an awesome night of lightning fast, high-action racing. Hot laps were completed and the Sportsman heat race was set to take to the track when the rain came.

Fans and racers are encouraged to save their ticket stubs and wrist bands for “rain-check” admission next Saturday. Coming up on Saturday, April, 7, it is Macon Speedway’s regular weekly racing featuring all five UMP divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock, and Hornets plus the CARS Crate Late Models. In addition, there will be Easter Fun for the kids with some fun prizes and candy in store.

NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.
Macon Speedway – racing every Saturday Night – is proud to be part of the $100,000 Contingency Connection program for the 2007 season. Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.
