(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway opens under new ownership for the 2007 season on Saturday, March 31. The new, improved Macon Speedway is focused on presenting an action-packed racing program while providing an environment for wholesome family entertainment With Macon Speedway’s dedication to family fun, management and staff are pleased to announce the Macon Speedway Kids Club.
Special activities are planned throughout the racing season for all children ages 10 and under starting with Easter Fun on April 7. Complete schedules of planned activities will be available at the first official Kids Club meeting on May 5. A fun Cinco de Mayo celebration complete with piñatas will kick-off Kids Club for 2007. Kids Club will meet 12 times on regular weekly race nights ending on September 1. Kids Club meetings start at 6:00 PM ending around 6:45 in time for kids to take in the complete racing program. Kids Club activities provide young race fans with opportunities for interaction with their favorite drivers, race-oriented crafts, and special prizes.
Opening night at Macon Speedway on March 31 will feature five UMP sanctioned divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock and Hornet. New for 2007 is the addition of the C.A.R.S. Late Models. Gates will open at 5:00 and racing will start at 7:00. Fans are encouraged to come early to see the #20 Home Depot car driven by two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart that will be on display from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM.
NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007. Macon Speedway – racing every Saturday Night – is proud to be part of the $100,000 Contingency Connection program for the 2007 season. Macon Speedway is located 9 miles south of Decatur, IL on US 51 then .6 miles west on Andrews Street, then south on Wiles.
