(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway is receiving lots of attention from NASCAR Stars Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace and Tony Stewart. Schrader, Wallace and Stewart together with respected Track Enterprises, Inc. promoter, Bob Sargent, formed a new ownership group responsible for breathing new life into the famous 1/5 mile dirt oval.

Repairs and renovations are underway on the facility in preparation for opening night on March 31. Fence surrounding the track is being reworked and replaced where necessary. The walkway in front of the main bleachers has been deleted and will be replaced with all new lumber. The tower suite is being touched up, bleacher boards are being replaced and with cooperation from Mother Nature, the entire facility will sport a fresh paint job for the opener. Poles are being put in place to support new jumbo billboards behind the backstretch bleachers. The racing surface itself is being groomed and dirt is being added to provide the smoothest, fastest racing surface possible.

Macon Speedway opened in 1946 and has been a popular local track for over 60 years.

When Macon Speedway opens on March 31, an exciting season of Saturday Night racing will feature five UMP divisions: Late Models, Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Hornets. The 2007 schedule showcases a variety of traditional fan favorite special events plus three NASCAR Nights of Stars when NASCAR drivers are available for autographs and actually compete with local favorites.

Macon Speedway’s aggressive summer schedule includes a Memorial Day Special featuring the Northern All-Star Late Models plus NASCAR Stars on May 28, NASCAR Night II on June 14 and the Herald & Review 100 in combination with UMP Summer Nationals on July 5.
