(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway is not only home to the best racers in the area, but some of the most creative as well. Making its debut in the Street Stock division on Saturday, May 5, at Macon Speedway is a replica of the #95 car of “Lightning McQueen” from the blockbuster movie “Cars”.
Driven by Decatur native, Steve Ewing, the special design was a labor of love for the entire Ewing Auto Sales staff. Ewing reports that he could not have accomplished this design without the help of Before U Print, Inc. and Fast Impressions/Dynagraphics. He also thanks Debbie’s Diner, Jim’s Auto Sales and Stan Ferguson Drywall for their support of the project.
The first-ever appearance for the Lightning McQueen car at Macon Speedway coincides with the first meeting of the newly-formed Macon Speedway Kids Club with piñatas for the Cinco de Mayo celebration. In addition, the first of Kenny’s Crazy Car Capers will take place with a lucky fan winning a previously-owned Chevrolet courtesy of Ewing Auto Sales.
Weekly racing at Macon Speedway features five UMP sanctioned divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock and Hornet. New for 2007 is the addition of the C.A.R.S. Late Models.
On Saturday, May 5, gates at Macon Speedway will open at 5:00 PM. Racing starts at 7:00. The first 255 fans to grandstand area of the Speedway will be treated to Chips and Salsa courtesy of Guadalajara and Mi Pueblito restaurants in Decatur.
General Admission is $10.00 for weekly races at Macon Speedway. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $25. Reserved seats are still available. Contact the Speedway at 217-764-3000 for more information.
NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and local Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.
