(Macon, IL) While the new owners of Macon Speedway are NASCAR Stars, they have not forgotten the “grassroots racing” that is the foundation for much of the higher profile racing in the US today. The first race of the “Fast Five” Racer Appreciation Series – A Tribute to Grassroots Racing takes place this Saturday night at Macon Speedway. This special five race series features each of the classes racing weekly at Macon Speedway. Each night features a different division with enlarged purses, racing product prizes and for the finale --- one of the five winners will be drawn for a Cruise for Two.

Macon Speedway’s “Fast Five” Series starts on May 19 with Late Model Bonus Night. A large field of UMP Late Models and C.A.R.S Crate Late Models is anticipated to be on hand, racing for the enlarged purse with $1500 to win plus other prizes.

On Saturday, May 19, gates at Macon Speedway will open at 5:00 PM. Racing starts at 7:00. Kids Club meets this Saturday at 6:00 PM. General Admission is $10.00 for weekly races at Macon Speedway. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $25. Full season reserved seats are still available. Contact the Speedway at 217-764-3000 for more information.

Weekly racing at Macon Speedway features five UMP sanctioned divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock and Hornet. New for 2007 is the addition of the C.A.R.S. Late Models.

Winners on May 12, 2007: Greg Kimmons, Hogan Grain/Kubota Sportsman; Kyle Logue, Barbeck Communications Modifieds; Steve Ewing, Street Stock; Kyle Logue, Late Models; Lance Johnson and Joe Reed, 4-cyl. Hornets Twin Features. Angela Reed was the winner in the Crazy Chicks n Cars ladies race.

Advance reserved seat tickets for NASCAR Nights I and II and III (May 28, June 14 and July 20) are presently on sale. NASCAR Night I on May 28 features the Northern All Stars Late Model Series and NASCAR Stars Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will be in attendance. June 2 is the Barbeck Communications Modified Bonanza offering a top prize of $1500 as part of the FAST FIVE Racer Appreciation Series.

NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and local Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.
