(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway is busily preparing for Opening Night this Saturday. Renovations and repairs are being completed for the 2007 season opener. The new and improved Macon Speedway will open with the support of a new ownership group interested in the preservation and success of the historic facility. An appearance by the #20 Home Depot car of two-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart will add to the opening night festivities. Weekly racing at Macon Speedway features five UMP sanctioned divisions: Late Model, Modified, Sportsman, Street Stock and Hornet. New for 2007 is the addition of the C.A.R.S. Late Models.

On Opening Night, March 31, gates at Macon Speedway will open at 5:00 PM. Racing starts promptly at 7:00. The #20 Home Depot car of Tony Stewart will be on display at the Speedway from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Race fans are invited to see a real NASCAR up close and take pictures.

General Admission is $10.00 for weekly races at Macon Speedway. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $25.

A prelude to the Season Opener will be an open practice session on Wednesday evening for all cars in all divisions. This “Test-n-Tune” session will be a great opportunity for area drivers to feel out the improved banking in the turns and fine-tune fresh cars so they are ready for action on opening night.

On Wednesday, gates will open at 5:00 PM. Practice sessions will run from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Test-n-Tune on Wednesday night is free for grandstand spectators. Pit area admission will be $15.00.

NASCAR Stars Kenny Wallace, Ken Schrader, Tony Stewart and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Macon Speedway in January of 2007.
