Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Miss. (Aug. 28, 2018) - Jordon Mallett returned to USCS Series competition last Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway and found himself on the podium in the third position following three straight weeks of rainouts.

"When you are used to racing two or three times a week and then go through a stretch of three weekends off it feels like forever," he said. "We were ready to get back it. We were glad the weather cooperated and hopefully it stays that way for the rest of the year."

Mallett opened the night with a second-place finish in the dash. He then charged from the fifth starting spot to win the opening heat race.

"We were a little bit off in the dash and had a stumble and lost it right at the drop of the green," he shared. "I rode around then and kind of searched around the race track. We made a couple of significant changes and it was quite a bit better for the heat race. After the heat we made a few small changes for the feature."

The reigning USCS champion was the high-points driver for the 30-lap main event. However, an inversion of four was rolled and thus he started on the outside of the second row. Mallett wound up crossing the finish line third after battling for second in the late going.

For Mallett, the third-place effort was his 19th top-five finish and 30th top 10 in 32 starts as he chases his second consecutive USCS championship.

"You have to be in lapped traffic there to really be able to catch and pass anybody," Mallett noted. "We rode around in third for most of the race and had a really good restart once and got alongside second place. I found a line that no one else was running and showed them my line and they called that restart back and that vetoed that opportunity. We restarted again and I tracked him down and he beat me to the line by six inches. We were good the longer the race went. The car just came in a little bit too late."

Mallett is set for a trio of USCS races this holiday weekend. On Friday and Saturday the native of Greenbrier, Ark., will take to the track at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn. Mallett will wrap up the three-race stretch on Labor Day evening at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala.

"We are eager to get things kicked off on Friday night," he said. "A three-race weekend is normal for us so hopefully we can string together some good runs and get some momentum going into the latter part of the year."
