Moberly, MO(July 19th)-

Ending a nearly two year winless drought with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors, Randy Martin led all twenty laps at the 24 Raceway on Saturday night to register his thirty-sixth all time win with the series.
Martin started on the pole and jumped into the lead followed by Chris Walker and Jon Corbin. On lap two, Corbin would get by Walker going into turn one and set his sights on Martin and a chance for his second win in a row at Moberly.
With the top three remaining Martin, Corbin, and Walker, Jonathan Cornell joined into the battle on lap three as he worked his way past Walker with Curtis Evans running fifth at this time. On lap eight, Corbin had worked his way up to Martin and gave the three-time defending WOW champ a slidejob for the lead, but Martin was able to move back under Corbin into the lead. The top four would remain the same as on lap nine, Rusty Potter was able to work his way past Evans and into the top five.
On lap eleven, disaster nearly struck for Martin as he was lapping David Brown in turn one and ran up and over his right rear. Undaunted, Martin averted disaster and continued in the lead as Corbin and Cornell closed to his bumper after the incident.
A couple of laps later, Potter would be the recipient of bad luck as he slowed in turns one and two finally coming to a stop on the backstretch ending his fine run with apparent motor problems.
On the restart, Corbin would get a run at Martin going into turn one and would slide underneath him into the lead. Corbin’s momentum was too strong and he slid up high in turn two allowing Martin to get back underneath him. A lap later, Cornell was able to get around Corbin for second and the current WOW points leader set his sights on Martin. The laps wound down and Cornell was not able to get any closer as Martin would go on to his first WOW win since September 2, 2006 in his Diamond Pet Foods J&J with Kistler power. Cornell’s second place finish would help him keep the point lead in the Kiowa Line Builders/M&N General Consultants Ostrich-powered Maxim. Corbin would run third in the Engine Connection Maxim followed by Walker in his father Larry’s Santa Fe Glass Maxim with Gaerte power. Rounding out the top five was Curtis Evans in his Creason Pipeline Services/Arctic Cat Maxim. Finishing sixth was Terry Hinck in the Dahmer Powertrain J&J followed by Curtis Boyer. Rounding out the top ten were Tony Crank, Kyle Bellm, and Mike Lefholz.
The O’Reilly Winged Outlaw Warriors will next be in action at the Double X Speedway in California, MO on Sunday July 27th as they headline the 6th Annual Clyde Wood Memorial. If you have any questions about this event, please call (573)796-4694.
