Melvin takes out lapped car ... no call made

now my whole life ive been working on and racing cars. the blue and yellow or orange whatever it is always meant the leaders are coming move up the track and let them through especially at highland now at tri city i dont know i think you need to talk to charlie on that then let it be known in the drivers meeting. Also modified lesson for ya marty smith jr was the only one who could get forward bite on the highside bielong couldnt get anything before his little shock incident. highlands track is almost 1 grooved now they should have left it alone why change a good thing. Bielong and bielong fans always have an excuse or excuses when he loses if its he broke something all the way to it was harrisons fault. harrison was holding his line the whole night and ended up 2nd. bielong was all over the track where did he end up with a busted shock so they say and in the back of the field. im not really griping cuz im tired of this nonsense thats why i work for nascar now lol j/k its the same there if not worse. This weekend is martinsville busch is off if anyone needs help this weekend give me a shout. 1-217-257-3905 ill be around. see ya all and my new logo is "cant we all just get along"

I can't believe the only discussion on here regarding Highland is the incident between Bielong & Harrison.

Not 20 minutes before the Harrison/Beilong incident, Rodney Melvin INTENTIONALLY takes out a car that he felt was holding him up and there was NO call made. They put the 51 to the rear and gave Melvin his spot back in the lead.

Well, the 51 wasn't really "put" to the rear. To be fair if he is the car in front of the leader then he is already the last car and at the rear of the field. So he just maintained his position at the restart, I mean where else would he have lined up at?

Should Melvin have gone to the rear with him? That is the real question.

hey razzledazzle i dint mean it to sound intentional im just tired of this crap year after year its not getting anyone anywhere except broken parts which cost money. who wants to fix and spend a load of money every week on there car not to mention the time it takes too sorry if you took that the wrong way. my apology

prshaw i dont think the 51 was watching the flagman i dont think melvin should be penalized this time he deserves a warning but next time is a different story. thats just my opinion but i may be wrong.

Well..to be honest..if the 51 car was leading..and he spun melvin out..lapping him..this conversation would do a 180. Rule..at any track..is..and i mean any..blue and yellow means..the leader or..leaders are coming up on you..maintain your present line..keep the car under control. If a leader crashed every car he tried to lap..he wouldnt be a leader..he would be a crasher. Melvin..now i wasnt there..didnt see what happened..just sounds like to me..he picked wrong where the guy would go..and punted him because he was "so called blocking"(mind you..no rear or side mirrors..blocking or on purposely getting in someone's way is impossible).

No Problem.....RedCactusRacing just wanted to keep that point clear that it was a racing deal.....my opinion on the 51-27 deal I dunno not sure on that one maybe 51 got on the brakes going into that corner and caused Melvin to hit him don't know I did not talk to him but I did come down and talk to Brian and that is what happen with him broking shock and the car didn't handle when he drove it in the corner to well just a racing deal. See everyone that goes to Highland next week with all tracks open I am sure it wont be as stressful for the drivers trying to make the field for the feature and car counts will be normal gain and I really don't care if Highland gets a low car count cause thats where I always go on Saturday nights and will continue to do so!! Have a Good day all!!!!

red catus

you are a joke man...bielong had plenty of foward bite or were you not watching b4 the yellows came out...you should pay attention...and its not just 1 groove racing either...there were 3 grooves at highland and good racing...quit your complaing about everything!!!

Bielong had plenty of bite thats why he was walking away from them but then a yellow would come out and close the gap again he was as strong in the feature as he was with his heat and dash!! Good job Brian congrats to you and your crew if it hadn't been for the shock breaking you very well could of took the feature win as well to bad we didn't get to see a side by side finish with you and 24!!

ok 70b5racing he was walking the dog on everyone if you say so , but i saw what i saw and u have ur opinion and i have mine just as well as every1 else does. im not complaining heck i like harrison and he got 2nd its alot better than what 15th 16th. I'm a harrison fan always have been always will be thats why i go to watch harrison but if he does something wrong i wont back him i know what im talking about when it comes to race cars and i saw no forward bite and a 1 grooved track which was the inside it will all come together with the crews setting there cars up for the track it will take a few weeks but every1 will get r done and all will be well. i myself didnt see any forward bite from the 70 car. he has the power which got him off the line until he hit the first turn then i saw his left rear spinning. sorry if ya didnt see that but i did. i think bielong is a dang good driver and hes competitive. guess thats why im in nascar and not messing around with dirt maybe i lost my touch with dirt but asphalt and concrete is another story for me. good luck to #70 this year and the rest of the teams ill be there saturday maybe we can come back here after next week with a different outlook on all this. take er easy

Same thing happened to Helmkamp on a caution... A car spun in front of him and Frankie Martin and Frankie spins 31 out after the yellow has already flown right in front of the corner man what's the call on this one? I understand Frankie was trying to pass but why take the guy out on a caution. 31 was unable to continue due to front end damage...

I saw that too. But in reality Melvin did Joe a favor by spinning him. If he had passed him, then Joe would be a lap behind. Since he spun him, Joe got to go to the rear of the field and catch up with the pack of cars on the lead lap. It looked intentional but I can't really blame Melvin if it was. Joe was holding up the leaders and was blue flagged at least once. Joe should have thanked Melvin for keeping him on the lead lap really.

I don't know about bigger tracks or asphalt but on a dirt track the blue and yellow means hold your line. These cars don't have rear view mirrors and you don't know if there are leaders in both grooves or what is going on behind you.

When they come up behind you they can see what line you are running and choose theirs accordingly. If you are all over the track though and running half out of control and they can't tell where you are going next then you are likely to get a "reminder" of what you ought to be doing.

last year at i-55..at one of the drivers meetings the guy said when a lapped car sees the blue and yellow flag to hold your line b/c the leaders have already seen where you are running and have figured out where to get around you at....that is just what i heard last year..dont think that rule has changed though...
