here's the report:

Belleville, IL – Jerry Coons Jr. brought home the victory in the #43 Stealth/Gaerte midget owned by Kevin Arnold by leading the final two circuits of the 30 lap feature in an exciting action packed O’Reilly POWRi National Midget event. This was the first National Midget feature win for Arnold. Early leader Hud Cone paced the 24 car field followed closely by Avon, Indiana’s Brad Kuhn but on lap nine the two made contact coming out of turn four sending Cone upside down. Cone was able to restart at the tail of the field but handed the lead to Kuhn.
Kuhn paced the field with Brad Loyet, Coons, Jimi Quin and Gary Altig in tow. The field stayed that way until four laps to go when a lapped car rolled to a stop in turn one. Unable to slow in time, Kuhn slid into the lapped car and came to a halt with Jimi Quin also coming to a stop. That relinquished the lead to Loyet looking for his first National Midget victory. Loyet looked to be able to hold off Coons for the victory as the two crossed the line for the white flag but another lapped car came to a stop on the front stretch as the leaders came out of turn two. When the yellow came out Loyet and Coons made contact down the back stretch with Loyet spinning to a stop. That left Coons to hold off a hard charging Rich Camfield driving the Hess Family owned #51 Buzzard for a green, white, checkered finish. Rounding out the top five were Gary Altig, Jeff Davis and Hud Cone who came back through the field.
Heat race winners were Gary Altig, Hud Cone, and Brad Kuhn. The O’Reilly POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Sprint Series were also in attendance with the midgets with Derek King holding off a hard charging Casey Barnhouse for the win. There were 50 micro sprints in attendance.
The O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Series heads to Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE on Friday May 26th and Saturday May 27th with $2,000 to the feature winner both nights. This will also be a co-sanctioned event with the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association.
