The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will be at Auto Tire & Parts Race Park in Benton, Missouri on Saturday night July 28th. MSCS is a a full blown 410 Non-Wing Sprint Car Series based out of Terre Haute, Indiana and competes in four states, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Missouri. The 2003 Season has started out with three rainouts out of eight races, but the five that have been completed have been awsome with Kyle Wissmiller of Saybrook, Illinois winning two, one at Twin CIties Speedway, Vernon, Indiana and the second at Kamp Motor Speedway, Boswell, Indiana. Dickie Gaines of Mitchell, Indiana won the opening race at the Terre Haute Action Track where MSCS had a record car count of 51 Sprinters. Hud Cone of Oakland City, Indiana won the Memorial Day Monday race at Windy Hollow Speedway at Owensboro, Kentucky. Saturday at Blue Grass Speedway the 2001 Champion Donnie Gentry of Henderson, Kentucky won over Chris Urish, Elkhart, Illinois and Rookie Chase Stockon of Sullivan, Indiana. Cone and Urish came out of Bardstown tie in points and Gentry just two points behind. Following these three are "Mr. Excitment" Travis Thompson, Jerry Ruble, Todd Chandler. Bowlers Apparel & Trophies Dash points has Cone ahead of Chandler, Donnie Gentry, and 41 year veteran Leon Gentry. The Engler Machine & Tool Rookie points has fifteen year old Chase Stockon ahead and eight in the regular points after a real strong third place finish at Blue Grass Speedway. Donnie Gentry, Chris Gentry, Danny Holtsclaw, Kyle Cummins, and Travis Thompson are MSCS drivers that have won features at Paragon Speedway this Season.

Some ninty different drivers have competed in the first six completed MSCS races. Father and Son from Bryant, Arkansas, Jake and Tim Simmons, planned on being at Benton. Jake had a bad spill in hot laps at Bardstown and was taken to the hospital. He is out and recoperating, but used up his race car. Craig and Patrick Budde of Bartelso, Illinois are brothers that drive Ford powered Sprinters. The Ruble brothers from Southern Indiana, Jerry and Bryan will ge in competition.

MSCS had a race at Farmington, Missouri and Jacksonville, Illinois in 2002 and both shows were supported by some of the local Winged drivers. This should make an interesting competition at Benton to see some of the regulars take on the invaders. At Jacksonville Mitch Wissmiller of Saybrook, Illinois 2002 Champion and Rookie of the Year came from behind to beat Terry Babb and Joey Montgomery on the last lap. Joey Montgomery won over Donnie Gentry after a very action packed competition.

MSCS will race this Thursday night at the Vermillion County Fair, Danville, Illinois in the Third Annual "Larry Boom Boom Cannon Memorial". After Benton MSCS will be at the Terre Haute Action Track to challange The KISS Series of Indiana to a Shoot-Out on July the 3rd. The next race will be at Macon, Illinois on Saturday July 19th with MARA Midgets on the program.
