Missouri Nascar Stars Kenny Wallace And Jamie McMurray Headline SpringfieldRaceway's Nascar Night

Springfield,Mo.-Missouri Nascar stars at the opposite end of Interstate 44 will be helping headline the SpringfieldRaceway's Nascar night on Thursday night October 1st as St Louis Kenny Wallace and Joplin Native Jamie McMurray will be on hand that evening at the Quick-Quarter.

Wallace will be competing in his JEG'S/Impressive Modified chassis as he eyes the $1,000 to win feature event that evening in the A-Modified class as this will be his second visit to the SpringfieldRaceway and Jamie's first visit to a Missouri track since 1999 when he competed in a NASCAR Remax Challange Series event.

Both drivers will be meeting and greeting the fans with a special autograph session that evening from Approx. 5-7PM.Racing action will start at 7:15 and will feature 3 classes of racing.A-Mods(USRA Rules) will be battling for a $1,000 to win feature while starting the Main Event pays $100.

The popular SportMods will go head to head for a $400 to win and $50 to start feature while the ever growing LegendsCars battle to $250 to win.

This will be the closest that McMurray has been able to appear to his hometown of Joplin.McMurray a former go-Karting National champion went the route of pavement racing with Modifieds,then moved into the LateModel Nascar Weekly Racing Series at Lebanon I-44 and Bolivar Speedway in the later 1990's.McMurray finished as the Nascar Remax Series Rookie runner-up losing a tight battle with Jimmy Mars in 1999.Moving into the Nascar Truck Series and then into the NationWide Series.McMurray got his first Nascar Sprint Series Win filling in for injured driver Sterling Marlin at Charlotte.

Wallace,a well known Speed commentator and a regular Nationwide Series driver is not afraid of mixing it up with the shorttrack racers across America on their home tracks.Kenny displays the personality that attracts the crowd and drivers by being down to earth.Wallace is also involved with being a Co-Owner in the local dirttrack scene.

Co-Owners Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland are excited about this Nascar night in the hub of Southwest Missouri of Springfield are hoping that it will lead to even more ventures.

"Springfield has alot of roots in the Nascar world and we hope to continue that tradition.Bringing Jamie into the area for the first time since he made it into Cup Racing is a big deal.Jamie normally doesn't make many local shorttrack appreances and with this being close to home will make it a homecoming."quoted Doug Bland.
