Buckner, MO (August 19th, 2009)-The O'Reilly MLRA Presented by Lucas Oil Products returns to action this weekend, starting on Saturday, August 22nd at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Teams and Drivers will then make their Annual visit to Sedalia's State Fair Speedway for the Missouri State Championships on Sunday, August 23rd as part of the Missouri State Fair. Both events will pay $3,000 to win!
This will be the fifth and final visit of the year to Lucas Oil Speedway with Jeremy Payne, Brian Birkhofer, Terry Phillips, and Earl Pearson Jr. capturing wins in the previous four events held at the speedway this year. The Sedalia State Fair Speedway only shows up on the schedule once per year but it is easily one of the most prestigious and anticipated events of the season. Terry Phillips captured the Missouri State Championship in 2008 while defending MLRA Champion John Anderson took home the trophy in 2007.
Grandstand gates open at 5:00 on Saturday, August 22nd at the Lucas Oil Speedway with Hot Laps scheduled to begin at 7:00pm. Adults (16 and up) are just $20 with Seniors (62 and up) $15. Youth (6 -15) are $5 while Kids (5 and under) are admitted FREE to the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks". A Family Pass is also available for $40. Pit Passes are $25. Sunday, August 23rd will see the O'Reilly Midwest Late Model Racing Association join the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series and O'Reilly Winged Outlaw Warriors Sprint Cars for the Missouri State Fair Championships. Gates open at 5:00 PM, with hot laps set for 6:30pm and races starting at 7:00pm. Sunday night's grandstand admission is $15 per person, Seniors and Military is just $12 per person, children 7-12 are $10, and kids 6 and under are free. Sunday night's admission does not include Fair admission. Fair admission is not required for fans arriving after 6 PM. Pit passes each night are $25 per person, which does include Fair admission. The Season Long Points battle continues to be tight with Al Purkey still holding a slim two point lead over John Anderson as he was unable to make up ground last weekend due to the rainout at 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri. Joe Kosiski, David Turner, and Jason Bodenhamer round out the Top 5. Denny Woodworth, Alan Vaughn, Chris Smyser, Bryant Goldsmith, and Matt Johnson are sixth through tenth respectively.
