if think they was just checking tires your wrong your not going to know one week to the next what their going to have on the check list to check the cars makes everyone abide by the rules people was pentalized for a reason they didn't go to tech they went over the scales and not back to the tech area plain and simple no excuses

Sorry but I am right because I was one that was dq'ed and yes it was my fault for not going back to tech. But after a long night and not used to being tech it was a mistake all there is to it. They just check tires on late models, my point is the situation could of still been handled differently. That's all I have to say best of luck to them but I will not be back.

They will be checking a lot more than just tires on Latemodels. Deck heights, roofs, widths. you name it. Tech is a big deal, I pushed for a pre tech too. People around here would really blow a gasket if it went that far. But back in the 90s when I helped at track in another part of the country you were safety checked every week before racing then again for specs after the races. The Transponder issue will be fixed or he will be hiring scorers, it not working and not training people for what it cost is a BIG problem. The track was a surprise, in the sheepfoot holes there was standing water. Don't know if temps helped with it or what? but if it had been more moist on the surface it may have caused the track to get rough. it was really really wet just under the surface. The dry held it together I'm guessing.
By the way our main tech man is seriously ill and I'm praying he is better by next week. Tech might have been different if he was there, or maybe not? I wasn't there checking what was going on down at the tech area. The weekly routine still hasn't been figured out, and might take a few weeks but if there was any mistakes or miscommunication it should smooth out fairly quickly.
I'm hoping you come back 49snake you looked good and when we get both our cars done in the next week or two it would be fun racing with you. Good luck with what you decide to do. Your welcome to come back anytime.

I gained a whole new respect for both drivers that were dq'd Sat night. Both of you showed a lot of class when I know it was not easy to do so. You are both true gentlemen.

thanks .King eddy. no one to be mad at rules are rules and I broke them... im fairly new to racing and not familiar with the tech pin for inspection..lol just a suggestion when you make the top 3 get outta there cars on the front straight to get a trophy for finishing 2nd why not tech them there?also why interview them when there was no one left in the stands? as far as paying for broken transponders, hopefully that ended last week ....as far as the track goes smooth:yes hard on tires:yes indeed.... do not unload on new tires it will definatley ruin your nite.. I repeat no new tires you will thank me for this sometime some where.....I truly hope they moved the other drivers up 2 spots also.... like I said I broke there rules woulda been nice if someone directed me over to the tech area or just a friendly reminder.. I easily forget the stupid stuff I hear jim shereck

Pizzaman thanks for coming. The guy that was supposed to direct you was in the tech area because he had to fill in for Eric the head tech official. Someone else should have been there, but it was mentioned at pit meeting. I Hope you come back too.
The next few weeks the guys I know working on their cars will be ready. We should have a full field of Latemodels every week in just a few weeks. It's gonna be a good year I have a feeling. Just a few bugs to work out.

So you admit it was your mistake but, yet you will not return. Just curious as to the reason you will not return?

I own half of the 49 latemodel , the tech man came over to our car as soon as we got back to our stall and said we did not tech. I ask what he was teching ,he said if we were running LM tires. I told him look at them there still hot. Steve told him he forgot he thought they check tires at the scales. We BURNED UP 4 TIRES at 160 dollars each, 3 pit passes, trandsponder that did not work and 240 miles round, hauler that gets 8 mpg and 500 dollars for 3rd place money do the math it comes out to about 1300.00 dollars THAT IS WHY! nd YES we had 40s on all the way around. This could have been handled better but we have had bad racing TIMES WITH MOONMAN in the past, this just added more fuel to the fire. Good Luck and have fun racing as we plan on it, somewhere else.DINO

Well there Gator...You gotta give Moonman credit,He stepped up to the plate to make a place to race but yet you felt the need to bash him for your Drivers mistake and really if you are half owner then it was as much your mistake as his....I realize mistakes happen but please dont kick a man when he is already down....Moonman and his track crew are trying hard to make a go at a track and personally "to make this track survive" I think everyone should be helping in everyway to make sure he gets a fair trial before you hang him...I wasn't there to spectate but I do appreciate Moon and crew for taking this project on and I will make sure I make it there several times to watch the racing

Did the 4th from on back get moved up on the finishing order and pay scale in the late model feature then if the #17 and #49 who finished 2nd and 3rd and were respectively dq'd?

So really you not going back because they screwed you because really you guys screwed yourselves by the driver not going to the tech area. Finally a track that techs cars gotta give them props for that. That in itself pisses people off and I wonder why. If you were told that you need to go tech after the race is over then there is no way you can blame the track. Now as far as burning up tires and the expense of travel that I can understand why you wouldn't go back.

You asked why we wont be back and I answered you question. We DID NOT say we didn't make a mistake, but they made mistakes also.I am STEVES step-dad and also part owner of our other car. We don't want any track to close and if JIM CAN MAKE IT WORK ALL THE BEST FOR MMSP

Gator.........I've seen plenty of nights that I-55 has burned up tires, and more than my share of Allied screwing someone with a questionable call that I thought was unjust involving the car I sponsor.. I wish you guys well down there, you've got a fast car and a good shoe. Jim stuck to his word and you can't fault him for not waffling on it. I can't help but wonder if you would have been the 4th place car that your opinion/attitude might be a little different?

The very reason I don't drive to either Granite or Pevely. 230mi round trip and worn down tires or broken equipment. That's why I race mmp. 30 mi makes all the difference. Although I make the occasional pull to those places and others that cost of diesel with the toter Is hard to afford. Sure wish fuel prices were like 2007 and earlier.

King the best to you and Hammerman but it is end of story, maybe we will see you and drink a cold one some day.

Would love to do that, not trying to grind an axe. Just have the opinion that we need more tracks than less, and although I have had my difference of opinion with Jim, I am trying to help him make mmsp succeed.

And as always....my opinion and comments do not necessarily reflect the views of the drivers or tracks I sponsor.
