Moler Raceway Park opens second season on 4/18

After sitting idle for many months, one of the nation's fastest and most action packed short tracks will roar back into action this Friday night. Moler Raceway Park located in Mt. Orab, Ohio will begin their second year of operation Friday April 18th with a "Opening Night Special" paying all classes a increased purse. The Sunesis Construction Late Model's will headline this show paying the winner $1,200. Also on the card will be U.M.P Modifieds racing for $800 to win, Pure Stocks $400 to win, and the popular Chevette's racing for $350 to win. Also added to the card will be the first apperance of the year for the 1000CC Mini Sprints.

All the 2007 seasonal points champions are expected to return to defend their crowns. In the Sunesis Late Model divison "Lil" John Whitney put his name in the record books as not only the first ever feature winner, but also the inaugural track champion. Whitney put himself in victory lane a total of three times over the course of the season. "Lil" John Witney tied with Rick Combs as the track's all time feature win leader in the division. Also taking home feature wins in the Sunesis Late Model division were "Insane" Duane Chamberlain (2), "The Big Show" Robby Hensley (2), "Wild Thang" Greg Johnson (2), Josh Tidwell (2), "Gentle" Ben Adkins (1), Marty O'Neal (1), Billy Williams (1), "The Sniper" Wayne Chinn (1), and 2007 "Ike Moler Memorial" winner "Racin" Jason Jameson (1).

The Sunesis Late Models will host several high profile events in 2008. April 25's MRP Spring Championship paying $1,500 to win. The 1st Annual "Freedom Fighter's 40" will take place on May 16th. July 18th the American Late Model Series will bring several stars from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan for their first ever appearance at MRP. The 2nd Annual Victor "Ike" Memorial will again take place August 15th, paying $3,000 to the winner. The 2nd Annual "Fall Fest Triple Crown" will again close the season with a $2,000 to win payday for the Sunesis Late Models.

The race that stands out the most on this years schedule is one that will provide the most bang for your buck. The 2nd Annual "Phantom Firework's Big Bang 50" on Friday night, July 5th will now be sanctioned by the Independent Racing Series! This race will pay $5,000 to the winner and will feature a purse in excess of $25,000. Lead by 2007 champion "The Badlands Bandit" Rick Aukland and regional stars "Flyin' Ryan Markham, Robbie Blair, Dave Hess Jr., and Mike Balzano will all invade MRP to wage war with all the stars from the Sunesis Late Models division. Also on the card will be a full program for UMP Modifieds, Pure Stocks, and Chevette's. There will be a pre-race autograph session behind the grandstands for all the fans who arrive early. During intermission a professional fireworks show is planned, presented by Phantom Firework's. This is one night of action you will not want to miss!

MRP also has several specials for the UMP Modifieds, Pure Stock, and Chevette divisions planned for 2008. Non-Winged and Winged 410 Sprints will return again, along with the Mini Sprints, a Demolition Derby, and two Enduro's. The Front Wheel Drive division and American Vintage Racecars will debut this year. Several car shows are planned for this year and yee-haw, there is even going to be a rodeo! This season is action packed with events you won't want to miss.

Friday April 18th, competitor gates will open at 4:30pm with spectator gates also opening at 4:30pm. On track activities will begin at 7:00pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Friday: Sunesis Late Models, UMP Modifieds, Pure Stocks, and the Chevettes . Also added to this program will be the 1000CC Mini Sprints. All divisions will run Hot Laps, Heat Races, and Features. Admission price for Adults $13, Children 7 - 15 years old $5, and Children 6 and under admitted free. Pit admission is $30.
