FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (May 22, 2004) Kevin Mosier of Stoney Point picked up his first feature win at the St. Francois County Raceway Saturday night after holding off Doug Savage for the victory. Mosier's win came just days after the death of a family member and the veteran racer stated following his win he felt like he had a co-pilot that helped to push him into victory lane.
Savage settled for second place with Kasey Nations third, Leonard Betch fourth and the #53 car fifth (at press time it is unsure who was driving the #53 car). They were followed by Randy Forster, Chris Boyd, Kenny Harris, Mark Howell and Rick Chilton. Mosier won the first heat race with Forster second and Nations third. Chuck Adams won the second heat with Harris second and Savage third. Mosier won the trophy dash with Forster second and Nations third.
In the Sprint Car class, Joey Montgomery, who had led virtually the entire race to that point, fell victim to an accident involving a lapped vehicle with only five laps remaining in the feature. Timmy Montgomery took full advantage of the situation and raced to his second feature win of the season. Jerrod Hull captured second place with Robbie Standridge third, Bryan Matthews fourth and Jay Landolt fifth. They were followed by Tommy Worley Jr., Jason Keith, Lee Dunn, Jimmy Hurley and Keith Burch. Joey Montgomery won the first heat with Timmy Montgomery second and Jeff Davis third. Matthews won the second heat with Hull second and Landolt third. Burch won the third heat with Standridge second and Worley third. Daniel Adler won the fourth heat with Paul Hart second and Bob Thoman third. Hull won the trophy dash with Joey Montgomery second and Timmy Montgomery third. Jason Hunt won the "B" main with Kent Buckley second and Derek O'Dell third.
In the Modified class, Billy "The Kid" Smith is on fire. After picking up his fourth consecutive feature win at Fredericktown on Friday night he returned to the St. Francois County Raceway on Saturday and won his third feature in four races. Kenny Kennedy, last week's feature winner, was a very close second place with Brent Thompson third, Jeremy Greenwalt fourth and Timmy Hill fifth. They were followed by Mike Francis, Mike Crader, Chris Boyd, John Bohn and Jim Fischer. Greenwalt won the first heat with Danny Resinger second and Hill third. Crader won the second heat with Kennedy second and Lou Driemeier third. Smith won the third heat with Thompson second and Tommy Worley Sr. third. Kennedy won the trophy dash with Resinger second and Smith third.
In the 600cc Multi class, Junior Ferguson drove his #97 to a triple crown night (winning the feature, his heat and the trophy dash). In the feature it was Ferguson taking the checkered flag with Casey Barnhouse second, Jimmy Bridgeman third, Joey Boyd fourth and Tony Roney fifth. They were followed by Eric Giessing, David Chilton, Matt Dotson, Tommy Dickerman and Brian Keen. Ferguson won the first heat with Roney second and Dotson third. Bridgeman won the second heat with Giessing second and Chilton third. Barnhouse won the third heat with Ray Statler second and Rodney Williams third. Ferguson won the trophy dash with Roney second and Barnhouse third.
