MSCS Sprints head to Jacksonville on July 29th!

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series make the annual trip to Jacksonville Speedway, Jacksonville, Illinois on Friday July 29th. Jacksonville runs Winged Sprint Cars on a weekly basis and the MSCS Non-Winged Sprint Cars come in and challange the local Sprint Drivers who remove their wings for this meeting. MSCS driver Mitch Wissmiller of Saybrook, Illinois beat Terry Babb of Decatur, Illinois the first two years. It took battles between the two to decide the first to races. Last year Babb evened the score by running of with the win over Jim Moughan of Springfield. Babb already has a MSCS victory at Spoon River Speedway, Canton, Illinois this season.

The top MSCS contender is Alex Shanks of Marion, Illinois who was the MSCS Champion in 2004 and is now far ahead in the MSCS points for 2005. At Spoon River the last show Shanks led most of the race, but got boxed in on lapped traffic giving the win to Babb. Jerry Ruble of Vincennes, Indiana, second in points will be at Jacksonville in his Reece Candy Orange number 17. Third in points is seventeen year old Chase Stockon of Sullivan, Indiana who will breaking in a new Twister chassis for the "Hoosier Sprint Nationals" the next day at Tri-State Speedway, Haubstadt, Indiana which will pay $10,000. to the winner. Other drivers from MSCS to be at Jacksonville will be Travis "Mr. Excitment" Thompson with a new car to replace the crashed car from a flip at Spoon River. The Wissmiller brothers, Kyle and Mitch, Dale Christian, Rookie Gary Hayden, Hud Cone, and others.

The Jacksonville race will pay $1500. to win and $200. to start. Racers missing the feature are guaranteed $100. tow money. The draw for positions will close at 5:30 and the drivers meeting will be at 5:45. See you at the races!
