LIVNIT
Mrs. Hurricane to you!
I just want to give my 2 cents about Benton RacePark.
#1 Very nice facility.
#2 Fast, racy track (when it is smooth!)
Well, I think those are the only 2 positive things I can think of!!
As far as racing there, I like it. As far as ownership and officiating, well, that is another story. I think that to own a race track, you should know alot about racing, and have some balls to deal with all situations!! Every time we have raced at this race track we have gotten a bad call (not just us with this complaint, ask Todd Hall and his crate team about their experience). Bad calls do happen, we've had our share, but when I lead a race for 17 laps (out of 20) I am passed in one corner for the lead, then I take the lead back in the very next corner---the other racer (leader) went high, hit a lapped car and caused a yellow--HOW IN THE HELL CAN THAT GUY BE GIVEN THE LEAD BACK WHEN HE CAUSED THE YELLOW!!! No, there was NOT a lap completed, I was the original leader of the 1/2 lap. The officials said that the other guy was in the lead when we passed the flag stand...
We got 2nd, drove all the way to Benton, paid for 10 people to get in the pits ($25) not to mention fuel to get there, winner got $800, and we got a crappppy $250--with a check that was not signed by the owner/promoter, actually not signed at all!!
Congrats to all of you who have won there and had great results, you won't have to worry about me and my team ever showing up there again!! One of these days you'll be on the "losing side" of a racing incident at this track!!!
So, GOOD LUCK to you all!
Not that we deserve any special treatment, but our ELLIS BATTERY sponsored racecar is part ot the ELLIS BATTERY that is a track sponsor at Benton RacePark. Hopefully, after I spoke to my friend/boss/owner of Ellis Battery, this morning, they will not continue to be a track sponsor to a track that cannot make or does not take the time to make the right calls--that is all that it would take to make these situations right, keep people from fighting in the pits, etc..It was a very obvious call, even the winner (who is a super nice guy, and great to race against) in the winner's circle, thanked the track for the bad call and for giving him the win!!
Anyway, if it is a long haul for you, and you are on a budget (or just wanna take the chance of getting screwed) ENJOY BENTON RACEPARK!!
Thanks!
