Nations "Spectacular" at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO-- (September 3, 2004) Kasey Nations proved to be the man to beat during the special "Sportsman Spectacular" held at Doe Run Raceway this past Friday night.

Nations put the #26 out in front at the green flag and led all 20 laps of the caution free event. Kenny "The Hustler" Harris followed Nations across the line for second, Steve Borgetti third, Mark Schenebusch fourth and Roger Chilton fifth. In the heat race it was Nations, Harris and Borgetti in that order.

In the Mini Stock class, Rob Denny was the winner of the action packed feature event by mere inches over points leader Eric Bellew. Rounding out the top five were Brian McGee, Ron Moser and Carl Bellew.

Carl Bellew won the first heat, Phil Norris second and CJ Wright third. Denny won the second heat, Eric Bellew second and Ron Moser third.

In the Dwarf car class, Mike Zaricor visited victory lane twice, winning both his heat race and the feature. Bobby Black was second to Zaricor in the main event, Billy Joe Beard third. Glenn Province finished fourth from a tenth place starting position and Jim Black fifth from a sixteenth starting spot. Jeffrey Asher won the first heat, Chris Hayes second and Bobby Black third. Cole Yates was second to Zaricor in the second heat, John Leahy Jr. third.

Landon Barks was again the "man to beat" driving his yellow #8 kart across the line first in both stock kart races. Braydon Wright finished second in the feature, Brad Paquet third, Jesse Wright fourth and Wayne Arnold fifth. Paquet was runner-up to Barks in the heat race, Jesse Wright third.

Wayne Arnold added two more victories to his list for the 2004 racing season in the Super Stock Kart class. Brad Paquet finished second to Arnold in the feature event, Dalton Radford third, Megan Bell fourth and Kyle Jarrett fifth. Radford took second in the heat race, Paquet third.

Racing will resume on Friday, September 10th with the 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Dwarf, Stock and Super Stock Kart classes participating. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. For more information, log on to www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
